traded my 63 mercury station wagon for this lil creampuff lastnight. has a really good running lil flathead in it. it need some work, its still 6 volt and the generator aint workin, got a scary lookin plastic boat gastank in the trunk, and a lil too much slack in the steering. im not really digging the orange wheels. im thinking about lowering it just a lil and black wheels. would like to hear some of yalls ideas for it. thanks[IMG]

Works fine for me. Lots of potential there for sure. Ya, paint the wheels red. Reminds me of my ole skool daze. Dark grey primer and red wheels with white walls.

Looks like a nice, clean ride.I don't know if I'd make it a mild custom,or hot rodded a bit.I know it'll look good either way though.

    hard to beat a shoebox...nice...

  10. '57 Caddy caps,wide-whites,lowering...That should do it. Red wheels are played out. Get some of those Aerostar springs for the front. Work out real nice. Should lower it about 3" or so.

Aerostar coils will get you a little over two inches, and maybe a bit more once they settle, 3" blocks in the rear. A real cheap way to get it done and stll a very nice ride once it's lowered.

    Nice start by the way.

Great start, and I'd agree with the red wheels with ribbed rings and small dishes of your choice.

  13. Cool ride, agree the red wheels are done! You didn't mention stopping, brakes OK?

Nice little ride. Ditch the red wheels. Flat black em and drive the wheels off it. Enjoy!

hook up with shoeboxford.com it's exclusive for your Ford.. lots of good info and Chris from the shoebox store has about anything you would need to do a resto except interior... I bought my 50 Ford club coupe last year, finishing up new wire harness this week.... enjoy your shoebox as you work on it...

  22. Now, who couldn't love a shubox ford? I've had a bunch-o-them. Hell, my 1st car was a '50 crestliner.
Flipped spindle supports, aerostar springs and a set of blocks in the back will get you real low but if you go too low, you'll need to alter the front inner wheelwells and modify the rear crossmember to clear the driveshaft.
I did both with my 49 coupe.
The '50 choptop sedan lives in California now with black paint and green seaweed flames.

You need to find Johnny1290's thread on the "laws" of the shoebox, really helpful.

thanks for all the replys. im tryin to build a model A coupe so money will be tight for doing much to it right now. my plan is to get it driveable and fix all the scary stuff on it like the boat gastank, maybe lower it a lil. just have fun with it till the model A is done then get serious about fixing it up.

Sounds like you have a good plan..I've always wanted a shoebox ford, I'm jealous

  30. Nice start. One thing nice about a shubox you don't need a shubox of money to build one of these and one of the most popular cars around. Win win situation. :)
