Chuck, had fun getting the Plymouth running for the first time today. Can't wait to hear how it goes down the road.
Pretty amazing to see all that intake and stacks fit under the hood height! I sat the intake and carbs on the BBC in my Falcon this week, and even the carbs sit partially through the hood! Those old cars sure have nice deep bodies!
Sometime its amazing how some little doo dad that has rattled around tool boxes or sat in a drawer for years all of a sudden finds the perfect application. I like your idea for covering up the screws too. Consider it stolen.
At least you got your primer on......we woke up to the same snowy thing this morning.....I was hoping to get some priming done today too... LOL....I've been crossing my fingers to get some paint on for a few weeks now, and ol' man winter is not playing fair I've been looking at trailers for about a month or better (we have an OT autocross car) and have not found anything used... what did you end up getting? Tom
Nice trailer, and aluminum is even better! I don't own a trailer, but I have access to a friend's for anytime I'm traveling very far with a car. I don't mind driving my car, but it's always a worry to think about the chance of breaking at a drag strip and not having a ride home! Hasn't happened, but I feel better knowing whatever happens I can load it up and trailer it home.
The trim for the late 30s is so much cooler than the late 40s! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Then again I'm missing most of mine so I guess I can use what ever I want! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Nice trailer, you will like the aluminum!..... Once you put the car on the road, you will find that you will drive the heck out of it.... you're gonna love it.... Tom
The laser would work great... at work we lay out our weldments on the floor all the time, and that is what I did to lay out the chassis locations..... Had a hard time with the tape measure too, so what I did was buy several plumb lines and strings.. tied knots in the plumb line for my chassis squareness and for my centerlines check and re-check many times...also used the plumb to make sure the front and rear axles/mounts were located where needed..... I did use my cheap HF laser to verify my Ackerman angle (best as I could anyway)... I'm thinking your way looks much easier.......Great idea!
Laser levels can also be used, and they are much more affordable than they used to be. At one time they were well over $100, but now a decent laser level is under $100, ans cheap Chinese that work for occasional use are under $25.
The grill and cut out look real nice! Glass just helps make it feel like you're almost there! My friend's Dad has a 37 Dodge coupe. I don't know if he has any extra parts for it or not. Seems like they're pretty scarce around here. You'll be good if you don't have to work on it 2 weeks before TF. I know I'll be working on mine after it. I'll definitely find ya while I'm there. Haha
You can drive all night down here to Ohio and use my garage...Cause while its not snowing here it is raining and in the 40's!
