Question: What is the difference between Torq Thrust wheels that say, aluminum wheel and ones that say aluminum sport wheel on the back?
"Torq thrusts" wheels are made by American racing and say that on the back. I'm not familiar with; "aluminum wheel and ones that say aluminum sport wheel on the back" Ther are plenty of posts on these wheels on here. Pat
The original Aluminum Torq-Thrust wheels were only produced in 14 by 6 (shown on the right), 14 by 7, 15 by 6, 15 by 7, and 15 by 8 1/2 (shown on the right). The 15 by 6 versions all had "Sport Wheel" cast into the insides, and all of the other sizes were marked "Torq-Thrust".
I guess I should have explained more. Both pair are American Torq Thrust. One pair is 15x6 and the other pair are 15x8.5. They both say American Torq Thrust Aluminum. But the 15x6 pair also has the word Sport on it.
goodgarb, thanks for the info. need to let the guy know today if I want the 15x6's. just wanted to know they weren't newer.
Yep, goodgarb is correct. I have three pairs of 1960s vinatgegenuine 15 x 6 Torq Thrusts and they are the only size ever marked with 'Sport Wheel'. They have a shallow backspace (2-5/8"?) - shallower than any period clone....
You ARE buying all four (the 8.5" and the 6"), right? Having extra Torq-Thrusts around is never a bad thing.
No, I already have the 15x8.5's. I need the 15x6's to match them. I have 15x7 E.T.'s on the front now. They are very close in shape. But I am stupid about this car and trying to get everything as right as I can. I have been building this thing off and on for about 7-years. Three or four different versions (like an A.M.T.3 in one kit) and now that I have picked the drag race version I am trying to do it correct. Thanks for everything guys!
