Good luck with that. Very few trans guys I know could work on a dynaflo and if you need parts,,,,,$$$. My buddy had his rebuilt, it took 3 times to get it right. The Slim Jim in my Pontiac went. It was the same price to rebuild as doing a 350th swap.

Go onto the 1954 Buick forum, there should be some help with your Dynaflow there.

FYI, it is not supposed to shift!!! Put it in Drive, and leave it alone. Low is for a quick start or heavy traffic below 40. Upshifting should always be done with your foot off the gas.

Don't expect it to be quick, it was meant to be smooth and reliable, and was a big improvement over shifting gears...

Also try the Buick Club of America, which has a great web site.

You have a very cool car there!!!

Congrats. Nice lookin' Buick. One neat thing about the Dynaflows...you can push start the car if needed. Ya just gotta get 'er goin' about 25mph or so...lol.

I rebuilt mine in trade school when I was 19 and didn't run into any serious problems. I did have access to some good transmission men for advice though.

These were big cars with plenty of style and tons of chrome.

    Wonderful era for car designers.

Bendstens in MN sells adapters. The money it will cost to rebuild that dyna-slow, you could buy an adapter and have a over drive, also put the shifter on the floor and have some fun dropping through the gears. 700r would do well in that big boat.

Two weeks later to the exact day and my coils arived. I jumped for joy and had them installed in less than an hour.so I tuned the carb to factory specs as best as I could, threw the girlfriend in the middle and away we went. Took it on a good 30 minute krewz then pulled into my garage only to smell burning wire. It was coming from inside my alternator. Heres a few pics of the new stance.
