Junk yard '34 pickup shop truck build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Rocket's Hot Rod Garage, Mar 28, 2013.

  1. A couple years ago I struck up a deal with a customer and the owner of the local junk yard to buy a real decent '34 Ford truck. The truck was buried deep in the back of the junk yard so I've been waiting patiently to get it out. I sold the front fenders & grill to the previous customer while the truck was still crammed in the yard to lighten some of the initial cost of the truck.

I've been collecting parts & am getting started on some things I can do now... I'm still waiting for the truck but there has been action on moving it out!

  2. Looks solid. What are plans for fenders, hood grill, then?

get some buds, a few pickup trucks and few trailers and take it out one part at a time..

  5. None, oh except for a grill of course. I've got another '34 commercial grill but I'd rather run a '32 commercial or something. I might do something a little different with the '34 grill.

  6. Thought about it. He supposta be getting it out soon. He's been doing allot of moving around.

  7. Looks really solid down low

Rent some construction scaffolding for both sides of the fence, get two or three helpers. You could remove the doors to make it lighter but not necessary. It's never going to be a high priority of the salvage owner. Nospartsman

  11. Whats on the other side of the fence?,,I looks like you could just remove a few panels and pull it out. HRP

Nice 34. I saved a 33 1 1/2 ton truck also and it was in great shape, perfect subrails. Most of the 1 ton and up are in much better shape than the 1/2 tons. Probably cause they sit so damn high off the ground.

I waited 10 years for a junky to 'get to" a '34 Vicky, Yard was next to a river, He died, state got the property for back taxes,, dredged the river, pumped the sand all over the yard, covering up hundred of cars from the 20's to the fifty's. BUMMER,

Get it as soon as they say "You can have it, find a way"

  16. This might be what we end up doing.

The owner of the wrecking yard is a fellow Hot Rodder & friend. I trust 'em. I've also got the title.

Your title made me think of a Junk Yard '34 pickup model I built.

I was thinking the same thing..it looks damn solid. On the door it says "gross," but it definitely is not. Good score...keep us updated.

1934 Ford pickup is the best looking pickup ever. It's the 34 Roadsters of Pickups. Completely stock 1934 Body. Shit, I'd go stock chassis Too. Well regular chasiis.

I definitely don't have that kind of patience... I'd find a way to start digging it out once the deal was made

Mine lives in New Zealand now. My dad had a half dozen growing up.

Funny, growing up in the 70s/80s, my dream 34 p/u was chopped, bed too, SBC, Jag Rear, Kugel Front, wheels . . . . I remmber I did always liked stealies w/ hubcaps & buety rings & it was just so Grandpa like, might as well run stock Model A wheel too, but new modern wheels were coming out & big 17's was the latest craze in the end of the 80s but I remember I've aways liked stealies & wires. And . . . THEY CAME BACK! LIFE IS GOOD!!!

sorry for going off on a tangent
