Here is a few more views of the chassis. I need to finish the engine, clutch and the chain gang trans assembly. Thanks to Banjeaux Bob and others I think I have enough images to finish it up. Whenever that will be. Fun project.

I love that thing, and I'm surprised and happy to note that it's become a HAMB totem. Some of us wish we owned it, some wish we could drive it, I and others would love to tinker with and explore it. Somehow it seems to be buried and entwined and ingrown with the roots of our enthusiasm.

I chatted briefly with the ever smiling Richard Scaldwell,( on the left) the builder/owner/racer at Prescott in 2008. This car to my eye is so absolutely perfect in every way it defies description the whole being more than the sum of the parts. Something I would like to ask him or anyone that may know is how does one age aluminum to give it that perfect patina?

Front brakes?!!??! We don't need no stinking Front Brakes!

  19. Indianapolis Motor Speedway has a car on display that is kind of simular. Exposed values, even the crank and connecting rods were exposed in the open. Oil pan was a flat, shallow and open across the bottom, kind of reminded me of a grease trap for a Hog roaster/grill than it did as an oil pan. It didn't race Indy, but did race in the early 1900's. Can't remember the details of the car, I'll look, I know I have pics of it... Anyone else know?

Don't know if I'd drive it, but it's a very cool car.

You build a car of oak, brass, iron, steel, and leather. Drive it when you can and wipe it down with an oily cotton rag once a week for 100 years.

That thing is pretty rad.. I have to imagine that other racers hated being behind it with it spewing oil the way it does!!!

I'd drive that car slowly around the block for the pure fun of it. Race it at speed? .... No way. I'd say that car is no less unsafe than what some outlaw dragstrips allowed with match race cars around 1965 -1967. The butchery, sloppy welds, angle iron, aluminum tubing, hose clamps, chains etc... was just plain scary.

  28. Glad to see this thread back up here after such a long time!

Think this on the cycle car thread as well....

The trouble with keeping this thread fresh is finding fresh images to supply a new post. When I find them in forums from around the globe,I snag them and post them here.
