I am going to try 73RR's instructions............Eureka! It works.........my 'virgin' upload on the HAMB......all these years thinking this was somehow akin to a Ouigi Board....... Thanks, Ray :)

And you see my pictures now?

  6. I saw them all from the beginning. I am interested in your build thread and am looking forward to additional posts. I am presently building a pilothouse on a 90 Dakota frame. Its kinda eerie, looking at the way you shortened your frame, it's almost identical to the way I did mine. Keep the updates coming. Subscribing.

Yes, but I saw the first one from the beginning........and the others that you subsequently posted. My earlier reference to "difficulty posting pics" was a comment related to there being only one pic early on.

Anyway, you long since solved that problem for yourself, and indirectly for me too...as I was 'intimidated' by the process until reading 73RR's instructions.

alright so the frame is pulled back together and a few tack welds were added. then i lowered the box into position to admire it's fit. what do you think?

next i decided it needed a few inches off the top. sleeves were placed in the pillars to aid and guide the roof back into position.

thanks alot steve. maybe you'll like these. the roof needed to be sliced down the center. as it wants to become wider as you lower it. a filler piece will be manufactured to close the gap.

I do like the big back windows. How do you plan to cut it down?

Cool build. I am able to see all your pics and will keep an eye out for more. Here a pic of my 48 on a 93 Dakota frame with a 383 shoe horned in. and all cut up you can see the scars.

That roof doesn't look right to me!
I'd be doing a lot more fitting and figuring before I assumed that roof curvature at the windshield and rear window openings was correct!
Maybe you are...but I see tacked in supports and that worries me!

I have the same question(s) as 73RR.......about the glass. What plans do you have for dealing with that? Some folks chopping the wrap around windshields have sunk them into the cowl to avoid having to cut them...others have made successfu cuts, but the windshield is normal safety glass and lends itself to cutting.

Typically, rear glass is tempered glass and cannot be cut as is. Any breach of the surface of tempered glass causes it to shatter into small bits, like gravel.
