go ther and pull a surprise attack. Dont leave his presence until you have cash.

  3. the Missouri State Highway patrol will visit him if you've contacted them about this.
It is illegal to sell a complete functional car in Missouri if not titled to actual seller's name correctly....

The state like others is seeking any and all forms of revenues ,so they will be looking at that and any other titles he has....

If he is not a dealer and has that many cars[without proper titleing method, he is in for a stay at the Bars and stripes hotel [Felony=penalty 500 dollars each].....
And if he is not a dealer ,he can only buy or sell 3-4 cars a year as a non dealer- read that=regular individual.....

  4. The IRS isn't likely to do you any good. He hasn't broken any tax laws from this transaction. If you mailed the money order to him, go with the Post Office for mail fraud, they take it quite seriously. If not then go to the Attorney General in the state that the money was sent to.

gee...that's too bad. Nice car but if the guy is such a sleazy weasel the car is no doubt misrepresented regarding condition etc..

Every time I read about one of these long distance scams I'm reminded of my Uncle who wanted to buy a horse. He kept looking at pictures of them until my grandpa said, "Son, a paper horse is likely to run off with your money. You aim to buy a horse, you go ride that horse first to see if it's got two legs on the other side." I reckon buyin' a car is the same way. You need to look the seller in the eye and deal right there. If it's too good to be true, hell, it might well be. Wire fraud is a federal crime. If you want help, you need to talk to one of the Assistant District Attorneys for that particular district and file a complaint to be heard before the Federal Grand Jury. Of course, you probably won't ever get your money back but in the process you may get the kind of satisfaction that comes from being educated in how due process works and realize that ideas of justice are based on smoke and mirrors.

BE WARNED: Shop on ebay for parts?
Larry Brown goes by Classic.auto.parts and his feedback isn't all glowing.

Heres what he says about himself on his ebay world:

    History/background
Im not a major business, Im doing this by myself while working. Im 34 and raising 3 kids, so I cant offer the best shipping options. Time with my children will always come before packaging and shipping parts.

    Payment policy
Paypal works for amounts under a thousand. Wire transfer or cash for anything above that. I dont accept checks of any kind, sorry.

Interesting. He said he didnt have a paypal account for me to send the deposit.
His drivers license says Date of birth 04-13-51 That doesnt quite add up to 34 does it?

I believe in heaping coals on an enemies head. Having the IRS visit should be a warm experience.

What we have here is a clear case of wire fraud, which has been a crime on the federal level in the US for nearly 150 years. No offense meant here, but if I were you I'd be on the phone to my local authorities, the state of Missouri Attorney General, the Missouri highway patrol, the FBI, etc, instead of on the HAMB.

I didn't read all 4 pages but maybe some feedback to ebay might be in order? I have a buddy who got sideways with ebay as someone else basically stole his identity and when it was all over they concluded that he wasn't at fault. They still wouldn't reopen an account for him... One strike and your out with those guys!

Police probably won't do much. You need to contact the state attorney general. Tell them you want to file a complaint against the guy for deceptive practices. They may or may not be able to help get your money back, but at least that will start the ball rolling to get him to operate legitimately or put him out of business.
The state will be VERY interested if he's dealing cars without titling them if he's doing this as an individual.

A few years ago,I paid Larry Brown for a pair of bumpers. When he started getting cute because he figured I couldn't get to him,I hired an "enforcer" thru my connections to go get them, which he did. If Larry (all 5'7" of him) hadn't handed over my bumpers,he would have woke up in the hospital. That's the only way to deal with Larry Brown. Larry used to operate out of Quincy,IL but he keeps moving around to avoid Law Enforcement.

Looking at buying a 57 Nomad on Ebay right now?
You better check this out this facebook thread:

This is no witch hunt people... protect yourselves, you can see why its becoming impossible to trust anyone. Will I get my deposit back? It'll depend on Larry stepping up to the plate.

Larry Brown This is getting weirder by the minute. FACT: I don't do business on Ebay and I don't have an account on Ebay either. Just one more whopping story by Lead Freddie Nelson.

I believe in not handing over one nickel unless I've seen the vehicle in person and have inspected the paperwork. Any other way, you are taking a risk, and you might lose.
