Well I finally got another weekend free to work on my own car. Started stripping the paint off the passenger side. Ive got it down to a science now, two beers and two disks per panel! hahaha

Thought I was going to get to spray some primer on Saturday night, but there was some previous crappy body work that I ground off and the panel had some holes in it and it needed a little bit of hammer and dollie work.
So Sunday morning I broke out the tools and took care of that rear quarter.
The helmet still looks good JC!

    Thanks Eric!

So I finally get to the fun part, shooting some epoxy primer and I got to thinking about my oldest son always wanting to paint, so I gave him a quick demo and handed the gun to him.

and I must say, he did pretty good for his fist time! Two little tiny runs, but they will get sanded out anyway! Good times!

Man I almost forgot what that car looks like! Now get the other side done because you know how much I like body work and block sanding!

Thanks Jim! Well, two weekends in a row of free time was just too good to be true so I took advantage of it and got the driver side, front and rear splash aprons and the hood in epoxy primer!

Found another suprised dent with holes in the driver door. It was late when I finally got the car stripped, so I just went ahead and shot the epoxy. I'll come back and address that later, (along with all the other "suprises" I found). All this work sure makes a man thirsty! HAHAHA!

Mr. Lucky, I don't honestly remember! I'll look and see and let you know. It was actually bought from O'Reilley and wasnt cheap. As long as you use a good epoxy paint, it really doesnt matter in my opinion. After body work and high build primer, the only paint going on this car will be PPG. (just my preference)

Actually Charlie, yes a little. been needing to change the water pump and install a new radiator (just wait until you see what I did with the old one!). So first up was a new pump...
then it was time to install the new radiator.....Houston we have a problem...
The new radiator is a lot thicker and it wasn't going to fit in the channel and it hit the fan blade. It was going to need to be moved forward. So here is what I did, first I cut out the valance...
Then a little trimming on the core support..
    test fit
    [IMG]
    And it fits perfectly!

Then it was on to the trunk latch issue that I still needed to figure out. I didn't want to use solenoids so I ordered a pull cable from Speedway and came up with this...

This is why you fully assemble a car BEFORE you paint. I had to drill a couple of holes in the trunk lid braces to run the pull cable through and the bit grabbed leaving a nice hole in the lid, FUCK!!!!

Oh well, nothing a little welding can't fix...

how about some more pictures of the trunk cable (from under the deck lid (where you ran it thru the bracing. been trying to figure out how to do this on mine. I bought a cherry trunk that the previous owner shaved the handle and lock.

And remember boys and girls....measure twice and cut ..... FUCK!

Wouldn't you know it, on the last one! hahahaha! Oh well, it was an easy fix. Here is a side by side comparison.

Got all four done and was fixing to put them in primer when I realized I forgot to fill the holes for the lock/unlock pulls, it was already past my bedtime so I will finish them up this weekend.
