Here she is just after sitting three years while my business failed and I got divorced. This photo was taken after I for my shit together and got her back on the road and saved her from my ex's car port. The ex was close to selling her at the time. To a cop even! :O And although yOu can't really see her in this pic, here she is helping me look fabulous for Kentucky Derby Day. I just wanted to show that her paint isn't nearly as rough as it looks in that first pic.
I had a Comet not too long ago. Such a bitchin little car. Seriously, that car was soooo awesome. URL]
I think what has made me make my Comet a keeper is that while it's such a pretty little old lady car anything that'll work on an early Mustang works on it. Makes such a great platform for a brutal little sleeper.
I had a 61 Wagon with a 200/c4 swap that now lives in New Zealand My folks had a 61 Wagon with a 144/2 speed auto when I was young
This was our 62 family wagon up until last week. 2nd owner, original body/interior. Later model 289/C4/9" were all installed at a later time. Car sold in Pomona, raced at fremont strip.......Just left for Australia. They had it shipped down to LA 1st so they could fly over and drive it in the US for a few weeks. Hated seeing this one go away.
Here is my 60... This comet was originally owned by the guy whose company sold FoMoCo the rights to use the name Comet on these cars. Kinda cool I guess.
Our 11 year old grandson just bought his first car: a 1961 Comet. I am looking forward to a 5 year build with him, his Dad, and me working together on it. No specific plans yet. Subscribing to this thread, as we'll be looking for some parts and advice.
I'm in...'61 lowered 4" in the back. I've got about 5 sets of wacky 13" hubcaps cause I'm too lazy to switch to a 5 bolt pattern. JohnnyA
My first car was a 62 Comet 2 dr. I'm Currently building a 62 Gasser. 410 FE with dual 4's Should be running by King of Clubs at Barona in July.
Done and done! Guess I've never shown that photo of the wagon... yet! Best part though was when I went to my semi secret wrecking yard out side of town to get it, the Incredible Miss Judy came along. She asked if we needed anything else. I gave her a philipps screwdriver and told her to pull some window trim. Within five minutes she reduced this poor Comet to a bare carcass....
I see your in Ramona, I grew up there and my folks still live up there. The comet has made the highway 67 trek more than a few times!
If there's anyone out there lookin for parts PM me, I'm lookin to clean out the garage a bit. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Hola Rob et al... well the lovely Comet Wagon has settled into it's new home in Melbourne Australia and has now started running around our roads last weekend and understandably drawing plenty of attention from the locals. Only one "car" person has seen it out side the family and all we got from him is "Ohhh YEAH!!" every few seconds he looked around it! Rob thanks for looking after it and selling... I can understand your reluctance, but our gain. Very pleased that a fellow hotrodder had it, it made it easy when deciding to purchase from the other side of the globe, a pleasure to deal with.
Yes we weren't TOO far behind our alma mater Most of the the Comet Aka Edsel Was used here in Australia. Flattop from an Andriod °[]°
I bartered labour for building a shop for a friend and received a 1963 S-22 rag top for my payment . And my wife and I are driving here ,there , and everywhere in it . First time in my life I have had barter work to my advantage ! Rob
And I am hoping side venations fit, they look the same, I have to yet measure them. I have found some front end bushes are not the same as the Australian XP but they may be the only things I need now and possibly a radiator in the future... This has had some very good and well executed upgrades so the running gear is superior to the local Falcons, not sure of the U.S.A. versions.
Here is my 1960 Comet that I am restoring. Original California black plate that sat idle since 1973. Gonna install a rebuilt 65 mustang 289 and 4 speed t-10 and 8" rear end.
I currently have a 1963 Comet Custom Convertible, restoring it for my wife. In need of a trunk pan.......the piece in front of the fuel tank. Anybody have a parts car with a good one?
