  1. I was just looking for leadsledmercs chevy pics when I see he was the last to post.

If that doesn't plead the case for the taildragger I don't know what could.

Suck it! You can never have enough gassers! lololol

For sure man! Sometimes the car just chooses. (in a way)

I was going to flip the 55 chevy that was in my avatar 7 years ago by putting quarters back on it and filpping it out with a 350 with a 700 R4 just too make a few bucks on it. But as I did more and more research into the car and found out more about its history I thought it was best to do that TN drag car properly how it looked back in the 60s. And what you see today is what the car looked like in the 60s except it was light grey instead of charcoal.

  6. You could sell it to me as I am looking for a good start to a father son project! My son loves these '37-'38 Chevy coupes! Just an idea :)

  7. And I was about to say, "Gasser, you can't beat the looks of 37/38 Chevy coupe with the front high" :D

Of course it's all relative, but I couldn't resist.

These are all from Rik Hoving's Ayala files.
    The pics are in Pairs.

(Two pics below.) Bertolucci also straddled the line, with his beautiful '38!

I'll bet all these cars were 'Tipping the can!"
"Low and Slow" wasn't part of the plan!

Took some pics of the front suspension today, can someone I.D. The axle? Whole front end is chromed, axle, shocks, springs. Looks that at some time someone really put some thought and detail to it. Rear end looks to be be 55-60 ish chevy, chromed backing plates and springs.
Spindles look like 49-54 Chevy passenger car w welded brake caliper brackets(home made?).
Judging by the rear end it must have been built at a very early time, or had a mild motor? Most people were running the olds/Pontiac rear end?
Front of frame you can see traces of a welded bracket that was probably used for an early front mounted engine.

Gasser would be my choice but, since you live in LA, I guess that dragged would be ok too.

The fact that this is an actual survivor and not some newer creation (BIG difference!) says alot. With the stuff you continue to discover it seems more and more that the car should be kept as it is but also see if you can find some history on the car. It'd be pretty cool if the original builder was still around and could provide some history, even better if he has pictures.
I voted Gasser. If you'd like some photoshopped ideas just let me know. Eli

No trouble at all! Do you have a clear side view of the car?

Can you get a shot of the rear end? It would be interesting to see what is there. Looks like a ladder bar set up at one time???

Tail dragger hands down. Kustoms are timeless, gassers are just a fad. Period.
