    YES! A Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flaked Streamlined Baby. :D
Sorry C5, I couldn't resist. Did your painter use lacquer paint?

No lacquer. The original paint back in the day was a special George Barris mix (unobtanium today). House of Colors does a modern version of Candy Tangerine. But my painter (I do everything but final paint on my cars) is a PPG guy. Based on a test panel done with old school Candy Tangerine (that I got from a friend of mine who restored another H&M Candy Tangerine car) PPG three stage "Indy Red" is a dead nuts match for the red end of the Candy Tangerine range (my buddy did four passes over a based coat of bronze-ish metallic...those passes go from orange to red based on the number of tinted color mid coats. A test spray out of Indy Red in four passes over the PPG base metallic coat out in the sun was an exact match to my eye. (And I wanted the car on the red side since that is how it looked early in the '64 season...the color seemed to change on the car at every race...which is the nature of Candy repaints I guess). So that is what is on the car. It should be much more durable and color fast than the original Candy stuff for sure.

Here is my old stocker. It was in the mid-60s when tri-five chevys were a dime a dozen.[IMG]

Well C5, what ever the combination of paint, the color and the car are coming along beautifully. When this racer is done it will be a master piece. A rolling piece of art.

Located on the grounds of Toledo Speedway, the Bar/Grille will also be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all day this Saturday, with a Jigg’s Dinner available. The kitchen and bar will be open all day. Admission to all festivities is free and open to the general public.
The Reunion begins at Noon and runs until 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club will conduct their monthly meeting at the Bar and Grille. The Toledo location has hosted the March event for several years in conjunction with the Racer’s Reunion. ARCA President Ron Drager will speak to the crowd about the 2013 plans for both shorts tracks and for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
Following the meeting, both tracks will give away 4 hour track rentals, pad rentals, tickets and more in a random drawing. Drivers must be present to win.
<STYLE>st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }</STYLE>“We enjoy these Racer’s Reunions, which gives us the opportunity to say thank you to our former racers at both tracks,” noted Ron Drager, promoter of both speedways. “With the addition of the 60 year Anniversary celebration at Flat Rock this season, we are looking forward to a large turnout of racers March 16 as well as at our Racer’s Reunion weekend during the season.”
The date for the reunion events will take place on the same weekend; Friday, May 31 at Toledo and Saturday, June 1 at Flat Rock.
Flat Rock’s 2013 season begins Saturday, April 27 featuring the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks and the Parts Galore Figure 8’s, beginning at 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 20, Toledo Speedway opens its gates with the 7-Up 150, featuring the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour. The stock-bodied Late Models will compete together as 1 division for the first time ever for this event. The “Border Wars” race will see the ARCA/CRA drivers—from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, go up against the ARCA Midwest stars-making the trip from Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota!
An open practice is scheduled for Friday, April 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday has more practice, time trials and racing. Race time is 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, April 21 has been established if needed. Race fans can save $5 on tickets if purchased prior to race day.
Toledo’s Friday night race cards kick off May 3 at 7:30 p.m. with the ACME Dismantling Sportsman, Parts Galore Figure 8’s, the all-new R & M Recycling X Cars and the ARCA 4 Cylinders.

I raced at Indy Raceway Park from the late part of the 1969 season to the opening of 1973. This is my '56 Chevy in 1970.

Meangreen, do you have any other photos from that era at IRP? Action, whatever. I'm doing my best to compile a library of photos and information from those earlier days. There was virtually nothing in the office files when I was there from 1985-2000. If and when I get back to Indianapolis, I plan to spend a lot of time in the library going through newspaper files.
