here's another avenue to follow: full wooden structure, stressed skin, laminated wood with not one but two large, heavy, and powerful Rolls Royce Merlin engines... the DeHavilland Mosquito of WW2. wood framed and wood skinned.....

Thanks for that! It was the highlight of the exhibit for me and I would have loved to inspect it more closely. Still, the attention to detail was clearly evident, even from behind the museum ropes.
