There was a thread on here a couple of days ago saying someone had bought or traded for what was supposed to be the original two lane 55.

That is more than likely, Walt Baileys original two lane camera car.

The car in the picture is from the UK. I don't think he is a member of this site.

If you are desperate to find the owner...send an email to kev Elliot at rod & custom mag.
He is a transplant from the UK...he may know all about the car...
He is a hamber but I don't remember his handle..
    Are you listening Kev ??

There was a UK guy on here sometime back with a 55 clone. Is it 6 months, a year or more I can't remember. Gonna search it out.

  11. A member here (little t) built this clone that is pretty darn close to the real thing

re: that scoop. When I was working at Boeing there was a guy with a nice red 1957 Corvette - big and little Americans and a 327 transplant. Perfect body and he had one of those stupid big aluminum box scoops in the hood with an actual hole for the tunnel ram....not set up as a gasser, so it really didn't look good (I'm not a purist, but I am appreciative of design elements).

  15. one of the coolest parts of the car for gods sake man!!

  16. What is going on here!! I owned a two lane clone for a year and it was the coolest car on the street for a summer- and man that mailbox was the most badass part of the car. I can't believe you guys!

A good friend of mine works on the real Two Lane 55 and also a clone for the owner of the car. He lives in Maryland and I'll get you his email if you need to talk with him. Ed builds tri 5's and is a great guy that will help you any way he can. jeff

I don't get the whole 'clone' deal... I mean, influenced or inspired by OK, but just an unimaginative, mimeographed, carbon-copy clone... Why? What's the point? How many Smokey and the Bandit / General Lee / Blues Brothers / Ghostbusters copies do we need?

What's worse is a lot of 'clones' I've seen aren't even close... Like the "American Graffiti" 'Model A Deuce Coupes' we've all seen. Every gray primered '55 Chevy missing a front bumper is a "Two lane" car and every black '55 is a "Falfa"

(All this from a guy with a black '55) ha ha.

But hey, whatever blows yer skirt up...

crestwood missouri,, very nice guy, very knowledgeable too
    google the body shop..

  22. That box looked good in the movie because it was necessary on a car that was all business. That being said, I prefer the hood scoop on the Falfa car. That scoop on the primered car but with roll-up windows (or strap operated),,, that'd be a nice street car.

Rays car is dead on. Many people have thought it was the real car. He runs it at gateway and dips into the 10s with it. Badass car thats driven like its sopose to be.
