Last night I backed it out of the garage and fired it up. Man does it sound good through the mufflers! Much better than that video in the garage.

    Thanks, Jordan!

Yep, Lonestar Roundup for sure. You?

Thanks, Dick -- hopefully see you in Des Moines, if not before.

Thanks, Steve -- yeah, the weather sure needs to improve for our trip!
The forecast is looking better for the next week, at least.

Thanks, Dave -- similar color to your car. :) Maybe a little darker?
I was shooting for a Washington Blue primer, but this is a little lighter.

Thanks! We sprayed three coats of high-build All-U-Need primer.

Then block sanded it and sprayed two coats of PPG DP primer. We mixed two quarts of DP-60 blue and approx. three cups of DP-90 black. Slightly over-reduced it and it layed down nice and flat. When I get the car completely assembled, I'll post some outdoor photos.

Thanks -- see you at the Torquefest!

Thanks, Mark -- see you at the Drags!

  5. I really look forward to seeing it at LSR
First year going there for me.
I'll be sure to say Hi

Glad to hear you're going -- see you there!

    Thank you, Mr. Fields!

Not this year. a few friends will have their cars there, though. I need to keep mine at home to get more work done this weekend.

I saw the ad for the headlights. What's going to replace them? Some original 28's or maybe some small King Bees?

I bought a pair of So-Cal Speed Shop headlights. Kind of look like a cross between a King Bee and a Guide 682. They are 7" sealed beams.

  13. Roadster is looking really good Nick! I've enjoyed following this build.

If you get a chance, could you give us a side profile shot of the So-Cal headlights. I'm curious as to how deep they are, but it's hard to tell from the website.

You know I got nothin' but love, but... these look MUCH better. Can't wait to see it all together and in color. That hood looks great, too.

Last I knew the SoCal lights were Arrow lights. Fine choice young man.

    Will do.

Haha... I don't want to fuck with multiple carbs. One 4-barrel will work just fine -- tune it, put the hood on, and go!

It looked great before but even better with the new headlights.
    Really nice build.
How did your front axle guide work out when you were driving it over the summer?

  22. Malcolm, man this car has come so far,,I remember all the problems you overcame to get to the point it is now,,congratulations,,your getting closer to putting a fork in it and calling it done,,,for now!:D HRP

    Thanks, Hasty!
I didn't end up installing that 'funky fork' axle centering guide. Figured I'd drive the car first to see if it needed it.. and so far it's driven great.

Thanks, Mr. HRP! As you know with your own projects, it can be a long road, but worth it in the end.

About as far as I'm going to get today.
Made a template for the hood top and realized I don't have a big enough piece of aluminum sheet left to make it. Will tackle it tomorrow night...
