When I was putting the Ranch Wagon together I decided early on to delete the stars from the tail lights to clean up and simplify the look. Anyone have any photos of Oldsmobile or Pontiac taillights on this model,,or something I haven't thought of? HRP
Not the greatest picture of my old 53, but it'll give you an idea as to what the Olds tail lights look like.
'53 Mercury tail light lens are not round, I have no intentions of cutting up the back of the car just looking for a interesting substitute lens. HRP
Sorry, I was referring to the Canadian version of a '53 Ford. Bolt right on. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kenmojr/2656931522/
We both talked about changing the tail lights. The 53 Mercury Meteor tail lights do look good, but probably impossible to find. HRP
Danny , I have a couple of pairs of these concave lenses from a Facel Vega I restored several years ago . I remember back in my younger years seeing some custom lenses like these in the Fords and Olds . The lenses are 4 1/4 " in diameter and approximately 2 " deep. You will have to make a housing to move the bulb further back into the body. Lenses will need a scuff with #1500 grit paper and a polish. These would look killer in a 52/54 Ford . I believe I have a pic of a 53 Victoria from the SLC area with a similar set up . Will post when found.
Ford went to round taillights in '52 and used them on almost everything until '65, maybe something later after reducing the diameter? '60 T-Bird? '64 Fairlane?.... JAT
what a lot of us did was make our own out of red plexiglas. i think lee plastics produced a lens like that way back when. i found a website for "kool rides" featuring the flat style and the '56 olds style for sale. might be worth checking into.
