Crap, I just gave away two used bombs. AND I'm going to run lakesters. WTG.
It'd be hard to stuff a flowmaster in lakesters but I bet someone here has cut one up to see. HEY, I got one of those, is it a go? Reckon the dude will let me have one back?
This site rocks and this post is tops.

I thought about that. You would need to drill a hole in it . Maybe cover half of the hole.

  8. bought myself a thrush muffler last night and finally came up with something to get the po-po off my ass... great idea and works very well. i ended up welding a washer on the inside to close the opening a little and think it sounds pretty damn good now. thanks again for the idea...

This is what I did, but I flipped the ends. I also used larger baffle insterts and double wrapped glass so it was jammed up between ths baffle and the header wall. I secured the glass using steel bands evey 1". They sound nice and deep. And, the glass is holding up.

Bolts are facing in when mounted... not visable unless you are reall looking for them

Mounted i flush with the opening with a good seal

Using the larger diameter baffle allows you to bottom out in the cone. This, the banding, and the flared end keeps the glass from blowing out.

Just wanted to send my thanks to skwurl for this thread. Just put baffles in my 36 plymouth and my old man did the same to his 26 ford over the weekend. Worked great. Cheap and easy. Took both cars to a small car show on Saturday and got many compliments on the them. Thanks again.

I built my lake headers with 3" end and have an adapter plate for my turnout. I welded on the inside of the turnout a 2" tube 7" long with a solid cap on the end and about 15 holes in the sides. When I bolt the turnout on the end the 7" tube gos up inside the pipe. If I want the baffles removed, I just remove the turnouts.

    Just another Idea...

Just did mine. Quite an improvement on the decibel level. And only 20 bucks!

I put these baffles in my A-model about a month ago,now we can talk while going down the road.I also added a pair of 90 degree turnouts at 45 degree to the road which also improved noise in the car, thanks for the idea.

Just stumbled across this looking for a solution. Sure beats 150 for a weld in kit. All I can say is Thank you and you are a genius! Super cheap, and fast.
