you are approaching hallowed ground---very cool ---did you see the black 55 olds in hot rod a few years back?
Yes 55 sorry right now I'm just tearing apart to clean it up. Will post pics of progress Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
The body looks to be in pretty good shape overall. What drivetrain does it currently have? Subscribed.
As of right now it has a mild 350/350 setup. Ford 9" rear speedway straight axle setup. The body is super clean has a few spots in the floor that need some love. Right now the plan is to clean up frame, motor and rewire only thing I'm missing is a original front seat. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
You should consider an Olds mill in there, iI know the chevy is cheaper and easier to get parts for but those old Olds engines are some torque monsters for their size.
Now that's thinking outside the box, which I love. Never liked the side trim on those cars and I would leave it off or change it. Good Luck with her
Always liked the Olds, nice rounded body lines... Was a great looking car....this one looks pretty sweet... Tom
I've got the feeling he got the car that way. And if so, that would put a different spin on things. I like it regardless what the mill is. If it was a 56 Gassered, no. That's what got me to open this thread in the first place. But the 55 lends it's self well as a Gasser.
It was a friends build he ended up between a rock and a hard place picked it up from him Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Hey who cares whats in the car. Get it running, run the crap out of it and when the sbc blows up find a cool Olds 455 or 421 Poncho or something for the car. I'm no fan of the sbc, but it is what it is. At least you can run it soon rather than wait awhile to build something up. I had a '56 Olds 88 with the 330 when I was in high school and really like your car, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
