It's against the law in Michigan to even mount them if they're over 5 years old. I believe we're all in trouble if we check the dates on our tires!

  7. Check the date codes on you daily...... They aren't always fresh out of the mold either.

Must have had the dies mixed up in the mold, otherwise it would be week 20 of 2016. Or a typo so to speak, and maybe 2006?

Shampoo is better than dish soap. Get some from the dollar store for a $1 buck. Don't use your wife's $45 a bottle stuff. You will get in trouble.

FWIW, I ordered some new tires from TireRack yesterday morning. Received them this afternoon. DOT date was the 51st week of 2012. Thats not even 3 months since manufacture. For the price of tires these days, I don't want 3 year old tires.

Well I bought "new" tires for my RV trailer last year, was a little pissed to find they were a year old when I picked them up....

not too bad, but more pissed at DOT (our government, here to protect us) requiring a "code" that consumers are ignorant of...
    instead of a 4 digit week/year code like 5009 why not a mo/day/year date, like 121509

Not that it matters, consumers would still be ignorant and we would still see 8 year old tires on the rack.....

I put a value on my life, and it's worth more than four tires.

Tell Coker to stick those tire where the sun don't shine. Why start off with almost four years on supposedly new tires. Another item to add to the many complaints about Coker.

Got to admit fellows Coker is in the wrong, selling 3 year old tires as new. The op has a good beef with them. To many people sticking up for Coker. I f someone comes up with a thread that he had picked up 4 tires at the swapmeet and they were just 5 years old,he would get the responce to not run them. All the guy wants is what he was told he was buying, new tires.

If you have a blowout and it causes an accident or damage to your vehicle and your tires are over 6 years old, some insurance co. don't pay out.

This thread is proof that the safety nazis have been successful brainwashing Americans

  23. Add to that the DiamondBacks aren't manufactured until the order is placed by you. It may take longer to get them but you'll have new tires.

Coker has warehouses on both coasts for speedy delivery which they are good at; I'll wait the few extra days.

    Do they smell fresh?

  25. Thought the magic number was 7 years? Anyway I drive too hard to trust old tires and I will swear they get harder and lose traction. Sad if Coker isnt up front with that, car dealers discount last years model, doesnt seem complicated.

I would send them back. What about the age of your fan belt is it date coded also? The business I'm in we are told they have a seven year self life.

Tires are expensive and your life is worth more. It would suck but if I were in your shoes I would send them back. Figure it as a life lesson learned the hard way.

So curiosity got the best of me. I went out to my garage to check my Coker Classic tires. I purchased a set of new Coker Classic Wide White Walls 6/10/2010 for $1,094.00. As of today I have about 1,000 miles on them as I just got my car on the road last year.

Front Drivers Side Tire: DOT 1706 so it was made the 17th week of 2006
This tire was 4 years old when they shipped it to me.

Front Passenger side Tire: DOT 2106 so it was made the 21st week of 2006. Once again, I purchased them "new" from Coker in 2010!

My two rear tires were about a month old when they shipped them to me.

Kinda pisses me off. For that kind of money I feel like I got F'ed.

Yes, this company has 10 million+ a year in revenue. NEW is NEW. NOS is for hard parts.
