I'd pass on the appletons and skirts, other than that, what he said. I'd go with Fiestas. Either that, hyd. brakes and leave it alone.

What a great car! I've been working on my 36 Fordor for three years now and still a long way from finished. I'd give my left lug nut to find one that nice to start with. I think I would update the brakes and drive it!

Do as Rik and Slick A&T have said...study the pictures Slick posted and forget that "Hot Rod'Street Rod look of bigs and littles. That is the best look for any 36.

After 40's, 1936's are my favorite Henrys. You gotta sweetheart there, bud.

  6. Why in the world would you replace the '36 axle with a 3 inch wider one? I leaves skinny 6.00 tires really close to '36 fenders. Also, '42 - '48 spring and axle bells in a '36 require a panhard rod (vertical shackles), so it would need a narrower '36 spring to maintain the proper 45 degree shackle angles.

I'm now replacing the '46 axle in my '36 with the proper 1936 axle to gain back tire clearance (with neg offset wheels).

What a super awesome beauty, love the conservative gorgeous color. I say drive it and just work on mechanicals, such as brakes, drivetrain, etc. Congrats on a uber cool ride. ~sololobo~

Don't change a thing, not many stockers left and it's just to cool the way it is.

Well, here's an update. First off, I appreciate all of the suggestions. I have had the car for a month and here's where I am at so far:

-added a pair of fog lights
-reworked the front spring and lowered it.
-reworked the rear spring and added longer shackles
-changed the rear tires to 700-16's
-fixed a few odds and ends with wiring, window seals etc.
-added approx 700 miles to the odometer

I do like the custom versions that people have posted. Especially the black one above. I am pretty happy with the way it looks now. Gary is right, I am a sucker for black early Fords. But, the tan is growing on me and the paint is way to nice to think of changing. As for the next changes/additions, I am thinking it needs some speed parts on the flathead. Sorry for the rambling, here's the pics from today.

    -Mitch

I apologize in advance for the picture quality. I was having a hard time working with the large glowing ball in the sky. Haven't seen that thing for a few months.
