Thought this would be kinda interesting to show you all.
1935 International with a 1929 Ottawa Corn Sheller.
Just think of using that in the old days

That was a common sight on "the farm" well into the 60's. Combines took over as a more economical method of harvesting. And with that, the means to dry and store shelled corn were vastly improved.

Put in a lot of hours scooping corn into one of those machines.
A cousin had a late 40's Ford truck with a mounted John Deere sheller similar to the picture posted. Once it was situated where needed, the unit was leveled out and the truck's drive shaft disconnected and then connected to the sheller's main drive; the Ford V-8 thus powering the sheller. Sure made it cackle.

Nah. I have no room for such a big truck and I have other projects to attend to.
The price for that thing is $4000. Kinda out of range for me.

That brings back some ol farm work as a kid in a small farm town. My friends Dad had a mounted corn sheller and went farm to farm and each farmer was helped by the neighbors. Big feast at lunch time, which was called dinner, followed by a short nap. Nice memories, thanx! ~sololobo~
