Is there a "go to" black wall Radial that can be purchased over the counter and doesnt look too modern?
Not that I have found Go to your local tire retailer and have a look, you may find somethig you like. I run Radial TA's because I like them, they are well made, and handle well even on my '57! KK
Walmart Marshal 791. Narrowest and cheapest radial, it is a good 2 inches narrower than "name brand" tires of the same nominal size. Has a vintage look. Turn the blackwalls out or the whitewalls out if you like narrow whitewalls. Or you can buy VERY expensive tires made specifically for vintage cars.
Cooper Trendsetter SE. One of the tires diamond back starts out with to make into their wide whites. Made in USA
Trailer tires are about the closest looking to a bias, but I don't thing they will drive to good on a car.
I run trendsetters on my pickup. I have narrow whites though. If your state has an inspection process, avoid trailer tires. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
These are Uniroyal Laredo's with the lettering ground off. P265/75/15 but a 31x10.5 r15 is what they are calling them now. Wheels are 15x7
I just got a set of narrow white Hercules p series radials for my '62 Hawk. Good price nice tires. Made in USA too. http://www.herculestire.com/ BTW: Small independent dealer a few blocks away had them in stock.
Diamond Back has these 15" light truck tires they bond on a smooth black wall. I think the tires are made by Yokohama.
