Ok guys, help me out here. Does anyone want to begin their Rail Job or hot rod to bad ass show? This year, John Wells' Vintage Torque Fest is moving to Dubuque, Iowa. I have personally been to every show. It truly gets bigger and better each year! Check out the sites, read the reviews, and make plans to join us. John hooked up with a local drag strip for 2013 to add to the excitement. I asked him about having a group of HA/GR running. He is all for it. BUT, I still need to talk to the drag strip manager to see what he can do for us. The track is a full concrete quarter mile, located in Earlville, Iowa. thanks for getting the word out about the drags - I will look forward to hearing what they have to say as well.... I know the owner has been battling some health issues recently. I want to let everyone know that if you will come out and bring something that you intend to run at the Vintage Drags in Earlville - please let us know in advance and we will hold special parking for you at Vintage Torque Fest. We have designated special area where we can have the old drag cars easily loaded in and out. There will also be a sign/banner stating that these cars will be racing on Sunday - come to see them in action! Anyone that has any good ideas about this - feel free to contact me or Calkins. Let's make this yet another positive addition to Vintage Torque Fest!
Alright guys, I just got off the horn with the track manager at Earlville. He would like to have an idea on how many HA/GRs are going to show up. He would like to give you guys gas money if he is able to. If enough cars show up, he thought the boss would let him throw out some prize money. Also, he said as long as cars are running slower than ten seconds in the quarter, it's free game for rules. Anything running 9.99 and quicker has to answer to the NHRA rulebook. Any takers?
Would be interested in attending the drags, want more info on motels, etc. I am running HA/GR Outlaw now, Hilborn on Alky, but could change back to legal HA/GR if enough interest. What about Bob W & the Ozark Mountain car? They are the only close ones I can think of?
info on hotels is at www.vintagetorquefest.com there are 3 hotels sold out already - I have to update the site
Ok peoples, just over a week to go! We need cars and bodies to this deal. Lets help John out. As of Sunday evening, there were 525 vehicles pre-registered for the 1965 and prior event on Friday and Saturday!!! But, we still need cars to show for the drags on Sunday!
The track is having a Test & True day, and the car show is piggy backing it. So, even your brand new Prius is allowed to run! I would recommend bringing a helmet to be safe. I am unsure at what speed and/or time certain safety equipment is required. If all else fails, ask them. Tri-State Raceway 563-856-3724 http://www.tristateraceway.com
