Finally found a decent 1940 truck. I have looked at several and this is the one that caught my eye - pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Have always been a fan of the 40/41 trucks and really like the look of the cleaner 40 hood trim. This is my first pre-war vehicle that is running & driving. Overall it seems very solid and runs and drives great. It's not perfect, but it is a nice driver than can be enjoyed while I tweak it to my tastes. It arrived this morning - had a quick drive before work and then locked it away until the weekend.

Right now I am making list of things to change (slightly wider rear wheels, slight lowering through a dropped axle and reverse eye spring, interior upgrade in a early 60s style, pin striping ....)

That is one really nice looking driver and a beautiful color combination. Not that it really amounts to a hill of beans, but you may find it interesting to note that your cab may be a 1942 or later unit, which is evidenced by the un-filled seam at the upper corners of the door jamb where it meets the roof panel. Also, your parking light lenses are from a 1941 truck as is the "Ford" script emblem on the dash. The dash scripts for the 1940 trucks were the same as the ones you have on the side of the hood and 1941 trucks would have used the rectangular emblem at the hood sides and the dash. Enjoy your new ride!
