I have searched but can not find anything I like My bigblock Chevy in my 32 Roadster have M/T Valve covers I want looms in some older look / 60´s look ? Also tips on plugwires in black without letters is welcome I am ready to cut and build myself to get the right length
On the wires...I found a minor footnote in the Accel catalog that noted Accel wire sets could be ordered in black just by adding a "B" in the right place in the PN of the set matching your need. This does indeed work...I ordered mine from Summit and they came right through. I have heard the writing will come off if wiped down with thinner, don't know from experience. Also,,,Packard 440 solid core, a GM product, is still available and is sort of the standard for '50's-'60's hotrods. On the wire supports...first place I would look would be in '65-68 Corvette restoration catalogs. Corvettes generally had much neater wire routing and bracketing than most other cars of the period.
I like the old factory wire separators that we would pick up for free at the junk yards if you are running 7mm wires. These are available repro. I have a personal fetish for Packard 440 wires which was the state of the art in the early 60s. I made my own and took some time to arrange them so that the Packard 440 lettering is easily seen for the guys that enjoy this stuff. I think most of the wires with lettering can be rubbed down with a shop rag dampened with lacquer thinner to remove the lettering if so desired.
We buy Taylor wiring sets in black and wipe off the Taylor name with lacquer thinner. They come setup with only one end on them so you can cut them to length and route them more neatly. Don
It is a project, not finished ... If I'm not mistaken These Holley Strip Dominator Intakes are one about 40y.o. old design Carb is to new, its no longer in the 32
Right, that would be 70's, just saying. You mentioned wanting to keep the 60's look, and that caught my eye. I like the car and it is probably brutally fast - just giving some constructive criticism.
Packard 440 solid core´s are ONLY for pointer style dist. ? Any tips on a cool double pointer dist. with vacum ?
Its a 454 with 049 heads, it will run but nothing is adjusted to perfection yet I think i change to another cam ... so it can wait 2012 was the first year out on the road for this 32 Here are a youtube video from okt 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZBziEtCW8&feature=share&list=UUZ3h4ynWOik2cun-q9aGy_g
Ebay item That doesn't seem to be in production anymore. 170988586728 Mallory has a similar one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/maa-2748201/media/images The Corvette dual points with the tach drives didn't have a vacuum advance and they are getting a bit pricy these days. As traditional as you can get on a small or big block Chev though.
I have mine running behind the valve covers and then along the side of the valve cover with a couple of small rubber insulated clamps holding the leads to the valve cover bolts. The leads are Taylor spiral core with the lettering taken off with thinners. I don't think it's sixties style but it is tidy and relatively unobtrusive. Click on this to see it better:
I like this idea: --along the side of the valve cover then behind covers -- I have it so now, but only with cable ties Any ideas for another fasteners ?
Anyone know how these ignition wires are mounted ? He knows they are screwed together, not snap together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSucVoVGnAA&list=UUZ3h4ynWOik2cun-q9aGy_g&index=15
I made my own with zip ties. Takes 4 ties to make a holder. Don't pull them too tight. I got the idea from the Weekend Hot Rod TV Show.
Auto zone duralast brand wires part number 1600 straight boots, or 1601 with 90° boots. Cut to fit, black, 8mm, 2year warrant for 16 bucks. They do have the brand on them, but can be wiped off like said earlier.
