I'd post a link, but I don't think it's allowed on here so you'll have to search for it. It's worth checking out.

  2. What I found for sale on ebay was a refrigerator magnet reproduction
of the Plainsman.....offred by a literature collector. If anyone is
looking for some literature item, you could contact the guy thru his
    ad.

    Pic of the Plainsman---------

$95K reserve not met.... :eek:wow... Same here Mopar threw and threw, but the only things I like on it are the fins and the hoods over the headlights, Wish Chrysler would have done a little sharper, longer style like this cars fins/lights on some of there forward look stuff....but the rest is kinda....sorta...Fugly?!?

I dig it, but I like ugly and weird cars. I'm not right.

  8. OOps....guess i didn't look hard enough. Does the top sorta remind you of a 57 merc top mounted backwards.? It does have some interesting touches.

    Absolutely it does!

I think that design actually did get translated from Chrysler to Chris Craft on their top-end line of roamer steel boats. The middle boat in this picutre is a Regal.

Well... that's one of the designs that didn't make it to production.

Even so, a great historical relic. There was an article in a magazine some time back. They said it was made for a show car and never meant to be used on the road. It was hand built and VERY heavy. Over the years they reinforced the frame, springs, suspension, brakes etc but still no fun to drive.

Those Lincolns were the longest American made auto made-and unibody to boot. I would be very leary of the rust on it being unibody- very expensive to repair.

Ok, so this is a 1956 Plymouth. If you watch the video in the ebay listing they show you the engine. Maybe I'm crazy, but I worked for Chrysler for 42 years and the engine in the video is a big block Mopar (383-440). What's that all about? I figured I'd be looking at an early Hemi. Ken

  15. Apparently one owner had Chrysler put another engine in it at some
point. It mentioned that in the ebay listing somewhere.

Another example of a manufacture trying to beat out the Competition with the Nomad theme.. Pretty Cool piece of history there..

Both of those cars are beautiful.
They are something I would add to the collection anyday.
Odd and Unique is what I like.

Is it just me or does it look like a batmobile ambulance? Its amazing...funny how cars this rare and unique can fall in to such disrepair. JohnnyA

I think it's cool. The brightwork on the interior door panel is gorgeous. Looks like 1953 Buick side trim on a smaller scale.

Did I mention that it was very heavy, too heavy for the stock chassis, and over the years they beefed up the suspension, brakes, engine etc to try and compensate for the extra weight?

  22. Unborn baby calf skin upholstery?? That definitely wouldn't fly in today's America!!

It's about as bad as using baby seal hides that some Inuit clubbed to death... Or kitten pelt headliner!

All kidding aside, I love me some rare mopars and this one is no exception.

So they upgraded it to a 440. Maybe I should have read the listing instead of just looking at the pictures like my 6 year old grandson would do. Duh. Ken

I have owned a pair of 56 Plymouth wagons and was aware of The Plainsman prototype, but am surprised to see one exsists. Pretty darn cool, and pretty darn pricy other than a serious monied collector or museum. Enjoyed seeing the pix, had never seen interior shots, very cool. Thanx ~sololobo~

Plymouth never used a hemi engine until 1964.

I think you need to own both of them. Then you would have one to shit on and the other one to cover it up.

It is unique and rare. It has that cool '50s earth tone paint. SHINY paint. I like it more than a lot of the contrived patina/yard art FNG rides that seem to feel HAMB town is an anything goes 'cause it's old site. MOPAR to ya, beach'z......

Wowsa, don't remember seeing one of these before. The rear section of the top looks like a 59 Ford, turned backward and grafted in. Makes it look like a hearse.

  29. I gotta' go along with you guys....
