This is interesting, keep it coming. What kind of bench seats you guys have used on your shoeboxes? I think that the original will be out of question, because shoeboxes are a kind of rare in here and we dont have shoebox parts cars like you do.
What did you use for chrome trim on door panels? Did you use the flex mylar trim with peal and stick backing OR ????
Finnrodder: My stock seats were in pretty decent original condition when I bought the car in 1989. When it was re-upholstered in 1998, the trimmer (Sid Chavers) replaced the stock springs with flat sheets of plywood. He cut rectangular holes where the passengers' butts would go, and used interlaced strips of webbing across the holes to provide some flex. He then built the seat bolsters, using stiffer foam for the rolled edges and softer foam for the pleated portions, and shaped the foam with a body grinder. Sid re-used the stock seat hinging and sliding mechanisms, as well as the sheet metal that surrounds the front seat cushion to hide the tracks. The seats are still very comfortable after 15 years. Fordstandard: the door panel trim is stock '51 Victoria stainless. It was in good condition and didn't require any straightening or repair.
