Des Moines? My summer just got more interesting. I keep forgetting you're only in Omaha I need to visit my brother there sometime and come meet you and check out this car. Nice work I can't wait to see it in paint.

Wow, just looked through this build and it looks amazing! Love all the little details like the gussets with the taillights... Is that a power kill switch in the middle of the dash?

If you end up coming to Omaha, let me know! From now until early April, I'll be very busy with this car and work, so after that I'd welcome visitors.

Thanks for the kind words! (I ended up not using that taillight bracket/mount.) The switch in the middle of the dash was originally an aircraft magneto kill cutoff switch, but I'm using it as a headlight switch (with a relay).

    Thanks!

    A little bodywork update...

It was great to have my dad down over the weekend to help out. I really wish we could spend more time working together. He's forgotten more about metal finishing, lead work, collision work, paint, etc. than I can ever hope to know!

A friend stopped over on Sunday and his 7-year-old son was very curious about what my dad was doing. In this photo he's explaining the metal working process of filing and using the bullseye pick.

This thing wouldn't be nearly as far along without my dad's help and the help of some good friends. I definitely owe them!

(..And not to worry, that's only a thin coat of filler and glaze)

A little puller I made (nut welded to plate) to pull body lines into place with an el-cheapo slide hammer. The doors are really beat up, so this is coming in handy.

    Quick update:
The last few weeks have been very busy. Almost every evening and weekend days have been consumed by this car. Body work and tinted primer are done, thanks to the help of my dad, Clint, Jason, and Jeff. Chassis/suspension parts are all painted or powdercoated and reassembled. Exhaust dumps are done.

Finishing reassembly this week and I'll move on to more fabrication -- hood and tonneau cover.

This video isn't the greatest - fired the new engine up today and had to do it in the garage. Big snow storm moving through Omaha right now.
First part of the video is open exhaust dumps. The second part you'll see them plugged and it's running through the mufflers. (Ignore the red plug wires - they'll be replaced with a nice black set.)
