50's/60's International pickups anyone brave enough to build one ?

Discussion in 'The Antiquated' started by Big Dad, May 15, 2008.

  1. I have had two Campermobiles (Camper Specials), they both came with 9.75 x 16.5 "Super Singles" one piece wheels on the rear and the standard 16" split rims on the front. I have a factory photo/ad that shows the same configuration. Is it possible that your truck had those Super Singles all around?

Here's another view of it. The front seats were buckets with the buddy seat in the middle. Like the 67-72 chevys. Wondering if that was rare..

The wheels were the same size all around.

  5. Here is my truck when it was found, notice the big rear wheels.

  6. Your truck has 5 stud wheels, it is a one ton 1300 Series... Wow, that is a rare one!

  7. I have seen some with the bucket seats, the aqua interior color is rare.

Here is another 1300 Series with 5 stud wheels that was for sale awhile ago.

If I remember, the emblem said 1200. I could be wrong. I always thought it was rare. Hardly ever see them.

  10. It is an interesting truck, I will have to see if I can find any specs on the ones with the 5 stud wheels.

Our all original (ok... not the wheels/tires) 1955 R100... Yes, some 55's (early) still had the split back window.. Every year we bring her out to the GoodGuys West Coast Nats, just cause, and get lots of looks/comments.
Some good looking trucks on here! :D

Be a whole lot cheaper to just buy a few spares and keep them.

My wife came home today and one of her work friends is looking at getting rid of a 1953 International. It's been in a storage unit for 18 years. They bought it as a father/son project but nothing was ever done with it. Haven't got all of the other details yet but it's either going to be free or scrap price as they are looking at moving and want to get rid of he storage unit.

Depending on what's there a strong project to build from. Not my favorite year, but not a bad one.

My latest purchase. Still waiting for it to arrive. First step will be to get it running, second to to the brakes, third replace the rusted floor then I need to decide if I just clean it and clear coat it or go for a full paint job.

I'm told it is about 22 feet long, does anyone know roughly what the bumper to back of cab length is?

This '66 looks like a candidate with potential and a great price.

I dreampt of pulling this thing out of the woods for years. I wanted to put it on a '89-'93 Dodge diesel chassis. Alas, I waited too long. It's still around, but in the hands of another dreamer.

Here's my 1955 R100. It's currently in pieces. Stalled due to moving. Has an S10 clip and will get 292 Chevy six with Holley Pro-Jection and a T5.
