  5. i have an inside view, being a refinery employee as to why the price difference from say, here in California, vs. where my folks live in Kansas. The main factor in gas price differences is the local state/region laws dictating the types and or amount of additive, and in our case, Ethanol injection at the marketing terminals where the gas is blended, prior to delivery at the station. California requires 10% injection of ethanol and branded or unbranded additive on TOP of what the nation requires (GOVT's BULLSHIT environmental Money-Maker...ethanol). So, it costs Californians more. In Kansas, that is not required, therefore it's cheaper to produce/blend, and sell, thus cheaper at the pump. The refinery buys crude on the open/international market, just like stock is purchased. From there the cost of refining the crude (depends on type of crude how much that costs...there's "sweet" crude, and "heavy" crude). Then there's the local Air quality requirements for certain additives, and/or ethanol. Then the companys that transport the finished gasoline to the marketing terminals gets their cut. Then the gas stations get their cut. Oh, and there's also state and local taxes...the biggest cut. You don't want to know what we sell it for.....that would make a man cry. Lets just forget about that lol.

I looked last Saturday night at the station I normally use, it was $3.75. Sunday morning I went by and it was $3.81. Up $0.06 overnight, on the weekend? I can't wait to see what it is this week when I fill up.

  15. It cracks me up going up to Bakersfield, passing all the wells pumping crude. Then when I get there, "what's that smell"?

What the hell! It's was $135 a litre yesterday here and we're a heck of a lot closer to Alberta's finest than you are. Do you guys have that BS tax (also known as a "carbon tax")? That's the biigest, smelliest pile of crap that has ever come to pass (gas)!

My thoughts about changing gas prices (well atleast when they go UP) is that someone in the oil industry had a belly ache, or broke a finger nail, or stubbed there toe on an oil rig, or there kid kept them up all night, and the did not get a GOOD nights rest, and put them in a bad mood...the PRICE OF GAS GOES UP....just my thoughts.

$3.60 here, but I had to look for it.

Funny, usually there's something on the news to explain an increase, but not this time. Seems the only reason is greed. They didn't even bother to make up a lie.

Remember when folks started using diesel because it was cheaper than regular gas? Didn't take the oil companies long to figure out what to do about that. Must suck now.
