Well I'm a young guy with bills to pay so spending 1200-1600 for some E&J's aint gonna fly with me. I decided to make something similar. I'm not trying to recreate an exact replica, just something that I like for my rod.

Sorry, doesn't work.. But don't stop trying...

  3. As an E&J owner, I can say those aren't even close.

Don't want to discourage you, just being honest.

  4. Good on you for taking the initiative. They prolly won't pass for E&J's but what the hey.

E&J's are so over-rated. I could never figure out why they are so expensive and what the real attraction to them is. Sure, they're different, but so is anything that's not stock. I applaud you for fabbing your own...do it your way and have fun.

thanks choppedtudor and shaun...its ridiculous how members get picked apart on here, probably why half the threads on here get started with "dont pick on me but..."

  11. Good job on thinking outside the box,,although they don't resemble them I think they look pretty good and I think E & J headlights are overrated and honestly don't particularly care for them. HRP

Honestly they do not look the same but similar? I congradulate you for fabricating your own headlights....this site needs the folks that are being creative on a budget.

So, they come apart vertically instead of horizontally? What is the light source? How did you do it?

I totally appreciate your initiative, as I have considered making my own headlights at times.

I wouldn't have said you tried to mimic E&J's. Just say you were on a budget and made your own headlights. When duplicating, having the copy exact is the key. Anything else falls short.

Those look kinda cool. Have you thought of ditching the domed lense and going with something a little flatter? Otherwise, nice job on doing it your way.

My opinion on E&J's is that I have only seen a couple cars that actually looked good with them. I have the feeling some guys run them just because they are rare and expensive. That doesn't always equate to good styling. If the whole car doesn't blend together, it's a wasted effort.

I'm not a fan, but they certainty don't look as bad as the E&J.

Look cool !! Better to say you "made" your lights than you "bought" a set of E&J.

As has been said, E&J's rarely look good. There are exceptions. The black plastic ring and domed projection light are what ruin yours to me. I admire your efforts, but I stand by my statement.
As far as how you made them, it looks like two different headlight buckets face to face.

There's why so many talented people won't post on here!!
If it isn't perfectly done, absolutely traditional, or your post has any spelling or grammar errors in it, some keyboard cowboy will pick apart your stuff every time! Sad thing is, many of the asshats who critique the most probably can't fabricate a PB&J sandwich, let alone spell it!

I think they look interesting because they are different, kind of like building an Essex.... I bet if you had painted them up, got them dusty and posted pictures asking what they were from, guys would have posted several different possibilities. I agree with the other posts that it would look more correct with a flatter lense and maybe a couple ribs on the top to lose the egg shape, but I would put them on the car and tweek them from there.
Either way, I always prefer to say "I built" over "I bought"

I was just thinking the other day about fabbing my own headlight buckets, just because I can.. who cares what others think, if you like em, that's all that matters. Like others said before me, built tends to be cooler than bought..
