I dig primer and sealer still, I dont care what anybody says, and I still throw a Mexican blanket over my good tuck-n-roll. I like cars that have patina on the outside and look like beater from 20ft. but look super nice when you look at the details up close. But the same concept stands for satin or flat, or whatever you're using that isn't gloss. Old cars just look better flat or low sheen with the paint. (IMO)

I just painted a customers 65 El Camino last week in a satin red single stage paint. I'm not really into satin paint but it looked. When the sun light hits it just right it gives off a cool look. This is my first time of shooting a whole car this way. You only have one shot at it if you have a sag you cant just wet sand it out like other paints.

A gallon probably wont do it. Buy more than enough paint to do the job and mix it all together before starting, mine has color differences between the gallon and the quarts that I bought. Thin it with acetone and not the mineral spirits they suggest. Paint away

A couple pictures of my 48 International painted with tractor supply black satin. It has been on there for 2 years and still looks good, but a bitch to clean, and pledge wax brightens it up once a year.

My brother's '54 Caddy...basically industrial primer (green) with Cadillac Lime Firemist flames and satin clear over all of it...the top got regular shiny clear...currently three years on the satin...still looks good.

Jeez, I just spray the heck out of mine at a quarter car wash booth and then towel dry. True on the spots, but that's usually true on glossy cars as well.

Thanks, but I can't honestly take credit for it. It was built by Mark Streisel and his sons in Saskatoon a while ago (member Jay.S is one of those responsible) and I conned them out of it a few years back. They did some great work on it and it's holding up well as I drive the snot out of it and tweak it a little here and there.

The grille teeth are from a '51 / '52 DeSoto.

It will have shiny paint one day, but there's a few body mods I want to make first.

Thanks Jeff for the comments on the car. I'm glad you are still enjoying it.
