Mine was originaly two tone 989C. Coral Cameo and Satin Beige top. Still original color under moldings and fire wall.
I bought original style dual exhaust. Yes, it goes near tire outside of the frame. But it is no problem if you don't use really wide tires. With 215 plenty of room.
Well it's almost time to but 59 in the garage and start waiting for the next summer. I have but about 1500 miles to Camino's odo this summer and old 348+turboglide have worked great. Not bad for the car which has not been used in last 30 years. Had to replace rear axle bearing cause of leaking seal and the drive shaft carrier bearing during the summer. And the heater core was fixed. But that was about it. Plan for the winter is update the transmision for the 700r4. Replace all wiring for the AA update kit and continue sheet metal work. And replace all the bushing...And 348 needs some attention too....etc... Here is some pictures from the summer...
Happy New Year to you all. Spring is coming and I have sped some time in the garage to get the 59 ready for the summer. In the fall I got project 700R4 trany and it is behind the 348 now. Had to rebuild it first and buy or fabricate all necessary parts for the swap. Original Turboglide is well-stored for future generations A couple weeks ago I started to replace complete wiring harness for the new one. Still working on the under dash wires and waiting for new alarm system to arrive. Relace the original generator/steering pump combination for the alternator and front mount pump. Still have to drop the gas tank and replace leaking filling tube and all original control arm bushings. Much to be done before snow melts and it's time to take Camino out of the garage. But increasing lenght fo daylight get more enthusiasm for a hobby.
The next project was change comblete wiring harness. Almost done already. Still need to complete under dash wiring and instal gauges back on.
Garage day today. Try to get dash back together. Speedo still needs some work to bring it to life. Probably need to get replacement one. Will find out today.
Thanks! I did not get the speedo to work propely. The needle got stuck when speed is over 70. And numbers of the odometer are peeling off. So surfing in the ebay right now and looking replacement one...
YOUR DRIVING OVER 70................... keep up the good work, have owned mine for 25-6 years.not sure, but lots-o-fun to drive. wait, you didn't say you were driving over 70 did you....lol
Thanks. Yes, very fun car to drive. Way different feeling than 60's and 70's cars what I have had. And even my girlfriend loves to drive it. I "drove" only the speedo on the table with electric drill.
The first run after long winter yesterday. Great feeling. Can't wait for the summer and more miles behind the Camino's steering wheel.
it is looking good, I see you still have winter trying to hold on too. it snowed again here yesterday but it will be all good soon
Yes, winter is still holding tight. Every day we still have night forst and today it should snow couple inch! Good day spend in the garage. Need to change the motor mounts. First test drive with the new trany and I ripped orginal motor mount and now the fan is hitting to the fan shroud when accelerated hard. Did not have that problem with the orginal "ruberband" Turboglide.
