Projects 1932 Ford Truck. You guessed it! Sheetmetal Work

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Flop, Jan 29, 2013.

  1. Looks good. I seem to have a soft spot for '32 pick ups. Keep up the good work and keep the photos coming.

  4. Very interested to see how you fix the "can opener" on the door in the second pic. I have one that looks like that.

  5. That's cool that you got the doors with the cab. Their stupid money if you even find any. When I was looking for my passenger door I found out no one repops the hinges.
Are going to build a bed for the customer?

if you need hinges let me know. I'm leaning heavily toward shaving mine this go round.

  7. Yes I would be interested in them. PM me when you are ready to unload them please.

spdjnky no talk of a bed yet

this panel took alot of work to get back into the proper shape!!!

cut out the old stick welds used to patch up some old tears and holes

after a whole lot of shrinking and hammer work . the file really keeps ya honest and lets you know where you stand

Hinges are available from Wescott. 5W hinges I think. I found that B-46300-DL (The lower door hinge) matched to B-46300-CU (The upper cowl hinge) makes the correct hinge for the 32-34 pickup. You'll need four of each. The door hinges will need shortening a bit, otherwise they're perfect!

  15. Hey Flop, how's this thing progressing? Any updates?

I have been living vicariously thru your builds since an injury has taken me away from mine.

Lookin real good so far bro, I really love the 32-34 Ford pickups. I remember the early days in the 50's when we would pass on one even that nice. But although there is a lot of great stuff still available, we are happy to get one this good. Will be watchin your magic on this one. ~sololobo~

    thanks 29 !

top of the back of the cab is done . alot of stretched metal here . and alot of work to not have the whole back of the cab oil canning!!most likely going to take a few inches out of the middle weld it up then make it straight again!!

Here's what the drip rail area on my cab looked like while repairing it. Turned out pretty well though.

I do think that quarter should have been dated pre 1932 though.

it seems the cab corners were bashed in on purpose .. kinda weird !

drill spot welds out of the 33 firewall

these brackets are going to need to be removed and put back in for the new /old firewall
