First off: What would a 1954 STUDEBAKER PICKUP be worth? Body is in excellent shape, minor sheetmetal repairs needed, minor rust. No major surgery required. No Motor or transmission. Next up, where is a good parts source for them? Any places like LMC or anything like that?
Hard to say about value 750-1500. As far as I know there are no aftermarket sheetmetal parts made for Stude pick ups. Most of the stuff is pretty simple, so I just make my own. FWIW, LMC sells absolute garbage anyway.
Any good websites just for general information on them? I have no idea about what engines came in them or anything.
They have a really active club. Most of them are into stock stuff. Lots of NOS mechanical parts around.
Check out the Studebaker Drivers Club website for a list of Studebaker Vendors - there are plenty of truck parts available. Also - log onto the Forum of the club, and log onto the Studebaker Truck Talk forum.
yes SDC is a good source - 1954 should be the first year for the 1 piece windshield and the factory V/8 which was first used in the 1951 Commander. Most Cab and front sheet metal go up tp 1959 with grille changes yearly on the 1/2 ton - they kept the cab on big trucks up to 1964. The step side bed was used up to 1964 - so that bed goes from 1949 to 1964....
Do a google search for Stuebaker Truck Talk Forum. Nothing but truck talk.I found out so much on there when I was building my 48 M. Good luck.
Here they are guys. Everything is in good shape except the following areas: -Door bottoms need cleaned and worked. -Under the rocker panels needs some metal back in them, straight strips nothing too bad. -front left fender needs replaced (there is one in the bed in good shape) -tailgate is rough (also one in the bed in good shape) Needs a motor and tranny. Thats about it really. With the exception of the inner cab corners and those rockers the bottom of the truck looks solid. Someone has done some work and painted it though so thats a little iffy. All fenders look good, no rust through on the inner sides. What do you al lthink its worth?
