    65 Steering on a 64 Question.
<hr style="color:#D1D1E1; background-color:#D1D1E1" size="1"> If I get a 65 Steering set up from the Pitman Arm to the Steering Wheel-- will it fit and work on my 64 (including the 3spd linkage)?

  2. I think the pitman arms are different - the 64 is a straight axle truck and the 65 is twin I Beam

I don't think it will work without some modifications. Pretty sure '64 uses a drag link; the '65 has Twin-I-Beam suspension, which (if I recall correctly) uses a cross-steering setup.

My 64 has a drag link & Straight Axle set up and the 65 does have the Twin-I-Beam. This I know for sure. I also know the 64 Gear Box and Steering Shaft are 1 piece where the 65 has a Rag Joint. Everything else I'm not sure of.

What are you trying to accomplish? Replace what you have with stock? Power steering?
I think the only thing that will swap direct is a '61-'64 gear, 53-56 is specific and I'm pretty sure 57-58, 59-60 are all a bit different. '65 up is totally different w/Twin-I-Beam

I think there are a couple rebuilders out there but you're probably looking at $200~$300 to get that done.

Mine is pretty trashed and I found a good deal on a 65 set up. Thought maybe with a little modification I could make it work. But without having them both in front of me it was hard to say. I appreciate being able to tap the experiences on the Hamb.
