I just thumbed thru my July '57 Car Craft and in the issue, the Phil Sauers Merc had a '53 Merc flathead with Weiand heads with a 4 barrel carb.

Are you planning on putting a flathead back in it?

For now I have a running 1954 331Hemi and Tranny John is rebuilding my Powerflite Trans.Later on I might put a flathead back in it.I did find a Weiand 4 barrel intake like the one in Carcraft.Still looking for some weiand heads.

I really like this picture of your Merc from in your album so I stole it. It's printed and hanging in my toolbox. It's not easy finding pictures of good low, unchopped '51 Mercs that are kustoms! If you ever find a color version of this picture, feel free to let me know.

Looks great and a great history. If I ever could get a Merc it would have to be a 51 not chopped and low--yours has the look for sure.

I told ya I liked this picture. I was having a little fun with photo editing, so I got rid of some of the background, and made the whitewalls brighter.
