  6. "Risher's Rebels"? Yikes ! If the LTC was to lead a charge against the enemy in that thing, those who don't die laughing might fall victim to those wing-tank Dagmars! Gotta give him credit for ingenuity & use of scrap materials though. Good stuff.

Car collection of King Farouq of Egypt, ousted by the Free Officer's Movement in 1952, he supposedly had over 1,000 expensive cars, which is one of the reasons for his unpopularity...he also left behind the world's largest pornography collection, but I don't have samples of it

Right! I see a Henry J in the traffic and they came out in Sept. of '50. I didn't remember the Pacific Electric tracks running thru there in the early '50's , but I see that they were removed in '52.

Eddie and Jimi keep up the good work. The only thing that bothers most of us is the whiners.

As far as being "thin skinned," I'll call out a certain poster everytime he tries to be funny with tasteless and offensive comments(the Kennedys and the Jayne Mansfield remarks come to mind). If that is "thin skinned," so be it.

  12. Yes, I was mistaken about the dark Ghia as being Gloria Swanson's. I did mean Rita Hayworth and when I saw it in the yard it was blue.

Tucker Fan 48. My Uncle Ed was real good friends with Preston Tuckers son. My uncle lived in Ypsilanti Michigan after WWII.

  19. To all - if anyone is having trouble with the size & fonts I'm using please send me a PM? Got a PM a few minutes ago indicating font/size was a bit hard to read. I will use my default settings in the future.
    Thanks all. Ron

A 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado 67X. Imperial Oil commissioned George Barris to build four of these Toronados which were given away in a contest.

Might be, but the front end is different, here is a picture of a '37 Lancia Aprilia, those around that year had a chrome grille and different headlights:

Hey there, Ardun. Good pic;), and I wonder if this car survived in some museum. It's the Dutch Darrin prototype for what was to have been the first post-WWII Graham. But Joe W. Frazer's loyal folks wanted him to call the car Frazer, in order to shake the negative connotations that might derive from the failure of the last two official Graham models that preceded the war, namely, the Sharknose and the Hollywood.

It all became moot when Joe ran into Henry Kaiser who was looking for a car guy to help him launch an "new" auto company after the war. Though Henry had Tuckeresque visions of a Kaiser car with lots of groundbreaking features, he (making a long story short) settled for Frazer's car, which was pretty conventional but which could get into production F.A.S.T. Frazer had a car, a lead on a major production facility but very little capital. Kaiser had plenty of capital but no car and no car know-how. Necessity and expedience make for strange bed fellows!
