Thinking of building a "Speedster" out of this

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Driveway builder, Feb 4, 2013.

  1. You don't need to go the Rootlieb route- make a buck for your cowl that matches the back of your hood, then you can shape the rear. Again, there are lots of articles/threads/etc here and at NWVS that will get you where you want to go!

Built the body for mine out of a stock hood, a bunch of plywood, some sheet steel and a '41 Ford hood.

That looks killer! Do you just add sheetmetal to the hood to bring the sides down? I would love to see any build pics, if you have them.

Isn't that Edsel Ford's custom speedster?

thats nice, but I'm looking to build something much simpler than that. I'm def starting to like the boat tail idea, though. Now I have to find a 40 ford hood... "because they are easy to find". lol

  9. You can make a great boattail out of a 30's-40's hood- I've been looking for a 46 Hudson hood for just that reason :D

Funny you should post that. I am friends with the owner and it is currently for sale if interested.

Unfortunately the second one we only took some limited in process pics.

The first one (built from a partially built rootlieb kit) I took some more pics of, build was generally the same/similar.
