I may keep it in the garage for a bit just to admire it. I am looking at it as an investment to fund my other projects. I just couldn't pass it up & this way I can say I did have it for a while.

 

Nice car, but God knows why you refer to it as barn find. More like 'this guy I know had a car I bought'.

 

Greg.It was buried and on blocks before the first photo was taken. Exactly how many years does it take for a car to be hidden to be considered a find?

It wasn't a find. You knew about for over 10 years. That's not finding. Plus, the other guy also knew it was there and that what he had was valuable.

A 'barn find' (a term that is already as worn-out as an 80 year old hooker) implies a discovery of a previously unknown or forgotten treasure. If the guy who owned it died, and you died, and no one even remembered or knew it was there for another 25 years - then it would be a 'barn find' for whomever dug it out. It also, but not always, suggests that the found item was under-appreciated and therefore bought at some sort of good price. I gather you did not run into either of those circumstances.

I mean....it's like the other day when I drove by the Chevy dealership and there was a new Corvette sitting there in the middle of the showroom. I talked to the sales guy there and he let me buy it for only $5,000 over sticker! Talk about a barn find!

 

I found it didn't I? End of story.

 

And as you point out no one knew about it but the owner.It has been in storage for over 25 years. And,you know nothing about the deal. So go get your Corvette...
