I want to chop the top for three reasons:
1. Never done it before... the challenge...
2. This kind of "modified vehicles" deserves a little bit of surgery.
3. Iv'e kind of promised it...
But since i mocked up the bed I'm not so sure anymore.
A small sun visor also makes the roofline looks longer/lower.
Lets see.
Rear fenders are Chevy, thinking of "erase" the hump in the front.

 

Chop it about half the height of the rear window and leave the rear window full size. Do you plan on having running boards?

 

I'm confused... Who's building this truck? Muller or Commer? Are you one in the same??

I've been waiting patiently to see a chop on this thing... Come on! Chop it!! Take 5" out of the lid, section the rear window so you're only removing 3", and call it a day.

As I mentioned before, I managed to duplicate my thread some how, have no idea how I did it...

Been working with the bed.

I can tilt it with the help of an 24 volt actuator (got it cheap), an 12-to-24 volt inverter from China (got it even cheaper), 2 ballbearings, a spring from the backrest of a front seat (he will never miss it), 3 locking pins, a door solenoid and a hood release hook from an old Saab 900 (borrowed...).

Gonna build the sides and the bed bottom from alu sheets (!)

I can take the whole bed off, by loosening 3 locking pins.
Ok, with someone to help at the other end, then!

Ain't no more ugly than an early '50's Stude P/U imho and I really like them..

Top of the cab's windshield isn't laid back like the Stude, and it is a schosh too tall, but it could be laid back and chopped easy if you wanted to...

Bravo, sir! Great build thread, I applaud your creativity.

I suggest putting the seat in the truck & sit in it for a while, before you give it a chop. Quite often, our ideas about a heavy chop/channel job quickly get reduced once you're actually sitting in the cab.

They are rare and when found they are used by hot rodders as a parts washer or orher creative tool . Prolly find one on EBAY, might check on a tavern beer cooler construction is about the same or a home freezer chest , hmm

If you want to make a bit of a sleeper, then it should be something that looks really heavy, like a hollowed out vintage gas cooker, or a piano!

I guess just an old wooden crate is the obvious thing.

Heavy, I was thinking of make a pile of sand-lookalike out of fibreglass or alu. For the moment the weather say - "Use real sand". Still got snow.
