I remember building that model but the decals were too for me to put on so I painted it a metallic green and then I blew it up with firecrackers.

No. NO NO NO NO NO!!! NO, DAMMIT!!!!
Pre-1964 hot rods and customs/kustoms, people!

I gritted my teeth and kept my mouth shut when "gassers" started to appear on the HAMB, but this is just one step too damn far. THIS IS THE HAMB. I am no purist, but c'mon. You are KILLING me here!
The '70s was hands-down the worst era of all time for modified cars (and I am including the '80s!) In my opinion those are the ugliest, most dangerous cars I've ever seen on the HAMB and that includes the rat rods that sometimes sneak through. However, it takes all kinds etc. so love'em if you want to, but NOT ON THE HAMB. PLEASE!!

(And yes, I am yelling. Sorry, but it's morning here and I'm a little testy.)

  9. I'll admit they are pretty fucked, but for those of us who were kids in the 70s, they bring back lots of good memories. Does one thread really threaten to be the demise of this whole site?

Brings back lots of memories , I was only a young teenager, but I had me a set of slapped bars , N50's and slots and air shocks, I don't post a pick of it because it was 67 mustang, with a killer Cleveland
. Well said by the way

  11. N50s and slapper bars were still very popular in my neck of the woods up till at least the mid 80s.

SKIP it if you do not like these cars. More 'cheese' with the bandwagon black primer/black primer/black primer done to death. Yes on the HAMB. No on the street rod. This web site was started to counter those dark, souless billet era. Carry on with the Street Freak thread.

Yes! It is setting a precedent.
Next thing you know we'll have a thread extolling the virtues of pro street (which, if I recall, was the next big fad after these cars but I may be skipping something?) and then the floodgates of hell will open and we will all perish in a maelstrom of fire and sulfur smoke.

Okay, so maybe it's not THAT bad. But I will be sitting in the corner with my eyes closed and my fingers in my ear shouting "No no no no" until it's all over.

BTW, I was a kid in the '70s (born in '67) and I have absolutely no warm, fuzzy feelings about those cars at all. Airbrushed 'Vettes with fender flairs, yes. F-body Trans Ams with rear tires sticking out 3 inches past the fender? Yes. Jacked-up-to-the-sky '60s Novas? NOT AT ALL.

Serious question: how many of these cars were actually driven on a regular basis and how many of them were just show queens?
I am guessing the higher the car the less it was driven?
I have met one guy who claims to have driven a '55 Chevy jacked up about a foot as daily transportation. I believed him because he talked about having to take a certain route to work because he could not turn left at a couple intersections because he had no way of seeing oncoming traffic, but I am guessing most of these things were either trailered to shows or slowly driven around on a Saturday night?

No, that is not going to happen.

People try to post stuff like that all the time, and those posts get deleted, and the Users get Banned if they cant take a hint.

Agreed, this entire Thread is Off Topic.

We had two '70s Treads running at the same time, one got Closed and this one gets to go on ( at least for now, or untill it gets out of hand with posts of newer and even more O/T cars)

Yes, some Users might get the wrong idea, and it might make more work for us Mods.

But we let some O/T stuff slide, every once in a while.

AtomicKustom stay out of this thread if it bothers you so much or are you trying to get it closed on purpose by starting drama? Post pics and shut up!

Funny I was born in 61 and am just the opposite. I wouldn't hit a dog in the ass with a vette or turd gen GM product, but I can dig me some old jacked up muscle cars. Probably because I was around those kind of ridge running cars but I didn't know anyone that owned a vette.

But, yeah, there's a slippery slope and if something as big as the HAMB gets to sliding down it, it would be hard to stop if it wasn't for the hardliners hanging on. So I respect that.
