This is a 90% original 56 chevy wagon I picked up 2 years ago.. There is a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed with overdrive... car was repaint at one time.. Check out the swamp cooler... Paint is cracking but that cool...
Very good car. Try this if you would like it to really shine: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...w-car-finish-antique-single-stage-paints.html

Welcome to the club, I own and drive my '56 Townsman "Waggy". It has some issues with rust and it's got about 4 layers of paint on it . It does however run well and the suspension is good . It has wear on the interior windlace , the door panels are worn. The radio works great, not so with the heater controls. I'll fix the little stuff and just drive it. I do have disk brakes and a dual corvette MC cause the single MC is pretty scary , coupled with the way people drive , The front drums just don't get it. I did put lap belts in it though. Enjoy yours my friend ! S
My first purchased car was a $25 56 wagon- An ex navy car that had perfect fenders, great compression and a good battery but a very rusty undercarriage. I can remember letting it sit for several months- then going out and starting it in the middle of winter and using it to jump my Dad's 2 year old LTD company car. Sold it to another kid in the spring who totaled it in an apple orchard when the gas tank fell out! Jim
Hey drive the hell out of that sweet old wagon, sorry to hear about your friend, he would have drove it to!
