Not telling you what to do, but before you go much farther with that plan, I would do a little research. That engine is designed for it - and not just that one, but all engines need some type of venting of the crankcase. If you don't account for it, it will vent itself somewhere, likely blowing oil all over your nice shiny stuff.

The ventilation burns off the condensation and keeps your oil from turning to sludge and being fouled with water.

Search PCV with the Technical prefix and there is some really good info. Here is a small sampling of the discussions :

BTW, the reason that I asked is because I have the same type of setup and I don't want to cut holes in my valve covers. In the end, though, I think I'll add some moon style breathers to top side of my valve covers and attached the pcv to a Corvette style, sealed-cap filler tube.

  3. A lesson learned by a friend was that ventilation, just in the wrong location, consumed oil...through the engine. Research it as suggested.

Hope you're planning to run fenders.
Looks like a very nice straight body.
Should be a good driver too.

  9. Hmmm... this may be a clue to a problem we're trying to solve on a Naihead. When you say "through the engine" can you elaborate? Thanks.

The transformation is coming along nicely. I really like your color choice, also.

Regarding the coilovers and leaf spring combo out back, it makes me wonder if the leaf springs are a bit weak and the coilovers were added by the previous owner to bring the back of the car up?

Also, I tend to agree with the others - those 5-spokes that were on it look good!

If you must change, Team III offers some great choices-

Appreciate the input. After doing some research I prob will do the PCV. I was thinking about drilling one on the back side by the firewall if I have the room. If not i will do the mooneyes like you. They have to come off for another coat of paint before final install. I will cut them then. Thanks again!

I may run the americans for a bit this summer before we go to the halibrands. Once they are up for sale you will have a PM your way.

We drove the car for about 1000 miles before pulling it apart and it rode very good. Obviously would love a nice dropped axle, but the welds and all suspensions parts were in such good shape it just made sense to keep it.

Appreciate all the wheel input as well. 5 spokes will be on it while we save for interior and the final set of wheels.

If it is okay, I have 80,000 miles of experience in a 1932 tudor with the Posies parallel leaf setup. I had alot of body roll, at highway speeds, and gas shocks do help, but the ultimate fix is a sway bar, the coil overs probably will help. But the back of the car is high compared to the narrow width of spring location and highway winds cause body sway. This is just info to consider, so just get it on the road and drive it .
Love the COLOR! Happy motorin, B-Scott

    A couple of build updates.

Got the radiator mounted and will start hose and AC line mock up soon. Got the carbs mounted for good and linkage set up. Also started to figure out the fuel system. Was planning on running a manual pump but it started to get real busy real fast since we are running AC. So we ended up going with an electric pump. Got the tank set up with the sending unit and pick up as well. Also got a few update shots from the shop doing the woodgraining. Should be getting the dash and steering wheel back this weekend, then we can really start to crank on the dash and wiring.

Appreciate the comments. You nailed it on the interior color. We want to do a brown that picks up the base coat of the woodgrain.
