This is Ron Finch's house and yard. He's been building bikes for 50 years. He's been doing Yard Art for years. Mike TPG
Yard Art.? Depends on where you live. Most of the time it seems to bother some people and they call the County and call it Junk. Give you a ticket etc.
Damn, While I was typing I return and see that Ron Finch house. What Talent ! I got lock jaw with my mouth hanging open when I look at that Trike.......
Wow, there is some seriously viable tin being left to rot on here. I wish I could find a body as good as some of these! Doc.
Hotrodprimer, be honest, was the sedan reassembled around the tree, or did the tree grow there on it's own? If it did, that body has been there quite a few years! ........... Looks like a nice grill shell on that Model A!
The body was indeed assembled around the tree and it was my wifes idea,,the summer photo shows it just a few days after we set it up,,Mrs. HRP transplanted the flowers from a different part of the yard and you can see the straps holding it together,,,a few weeks later they were replaced with baling wire and cloths hangers. I bought the pile of body parts from a farmer that was cleaning up his property to sell and drug it home,,mainly to get the running gear HeavyTLC aka Jason wanted the running gear and I knew I had a few parts that I could sell,,then my wife mentioned that she thought it would look cool in the side yard with a tree growing through it,,,the rest is history. It's been there about 3 years now. The stainless grill shell and headlight buckets are the only real usable parts left the rest of the body is swiss cheese. BTW,,the tree dictated where the car was placed,,so yeah, the tree grew there on it's own. HRP
Here's my friends 44 chevy heavy truck. It's actually fairly rare with only 108 built that year. Because of being built in war time, it has no chrome, the welds on the pillars were not ground off as they could not use lead to fill and the filler tube gasket is made of leather instead of rubber. He calls it yard art - I've been calling it mine since he is moving and hasn't had any bites on selling it until today. Two people are looking at it this morning. Hopefully they don't see the vision and it stays.
Undercover, are you thinking about restoring this truck or moving it to your yard to display? Looks like a historical vehicle worth restoring. Lets us know how you make out!
And I thought my 1946 Chevy 3/4 ton was rare. That one is in really good shape the few that I have found down here there is hardly anything left because they have sat in the woods for so long. That one is definitely worth saving.
My buddy Ray's garden art and the "gear" I found in a friends backyard here. It's actually the wooden pattern they used to cast iron gears. It'll probably end up on the wall in my shop.
I had this 55 at my old shop for years but now moved it to where we are building a new house and shop....It has been in a lot of graduation and wedding pictures...
Postig the yard art could present a problem !!! If the "Rat Boys" see this thread some of you might wake up to an empty yard. The next time you might see all of this valuable art, it will be at a "Rat Show" with a hefty price tag.......................Jeff
