This update is of the belly pan. It is 90% complete. Roughed in for now and just detail and fit work away from being done.

I like it. wonder how it will be with the muffler inside (for noise and heat). or do you plan to louver the pan

 

The pan will be louvered, and when the car is finished it will not be running a muffler, just a single straight pipe.

 

Are you at all worried that it will overheat?

 

I so love that car. The bellypan is a work of art!

Not really. The pan will be heavily louvered and atleast double, if not triple insulated.

I know...we've gotten a little carried away. It is now going to be a full frame off restoration of the car. I think the car deserves it. I hope you like the outcome.

Now I'm wondering why you didn't just build a new car, might have been cheaper................ It's interesting to see the old bones of that thing, particularly the seat pans. They are
a part of why that thing is so comfortable. Aren't they about three inches below the top of the frame?

The secret to building a "T" that you sit "IN", not on, like on a lawn mower. Then you can look through the windshield, NOT over it.

 

Man, what a great car. I've been studying all the photos you've posted of it. VERY tasteful and well-done. Also, I know the lift was mentioned in the other thread. Lot's of thinking and good design there, too!

I don't know if it would have been less expensive or not, but I would not have been able to nail the look of this car like you did. I'm more or less just doing a restoration with a few addition/changes.

Yes, the seat pans are atleast three inches, if not more, below the frame, as well as the rear bulkhead being pushed back a few inches. I think I want to have Paul just build a seat right into the car.

Thank you for the compliments on my dad. I'll let him know. I know he appriciates it. I don't know how many more cars he's going to do so I definitely wanted him to do this one

Doug, I'm not 100% sure. I am 100% sure, however, that it will be something from the 1928-1936 Ford paint book that I have. That is where I got the color for my '32. It has an early Ford version of just about any color you can imagine, Blues,Greens, Browns, Reds, etc.

I also know that the wires are staying Black.

Nothing of note. It's been a slow process this summer. We will get back on it this fall as I would like it done by Fathers Day.

 

I just love the rear pan... it would look good on any T/A even without the fully belly pan, IMHO. Wonder why you don't see more of that? Gary

 

Mark, any updates ? Are you planning on driving it to the LARS ?

 

There has been good progress...belly pan done, new bracing done inside the body, headlights have been relocated, exhaust is being built right now. Once the exhaust is built the final floors, firewall, rear panel, etc. will be welded in. At that point car will come completely apart, the body stripped so we can fix all of the metal. We should be at that point by the end of this month. I will get pictures up as soon as possible.
