in preperation for the 437monster! Laurie at Canada Customs and Hot rods has installed my vintage wheelie bars .....looks like they have always been there. these were "Royce approved" 6 months ago, quote "we don't want the old girl to get to high on the bumper"

    The article looks great!

I'm sure that Royce and his family would be very proud to see him and "The Old Girl" featured so prominently.

I will have to order a copy for myself.

I am eagerly awaiting the new motor install and seeing this gasser run faster.

i can't believe it's taken this long to find an advertisement for Advance Speed and Marine. this is in the Irwindale Strip Teaser handout from June 6th 1969 and shows 3 of the 6 Advance stores addresses, the only other item i have found was the Pomona Yellow Pages listing in the Pomona library.

I just wanted to let everybody interested in the Garey High Gasser and the Pomona Road Agents know that I found one of the original PRA car club jackets at a flea market yesterday morning. I wanted to find out more about it so I did a Google search for the Pomona Road Agents and found this great thread here on H.A.M.B. After seeing how jazzed everybody seemed to be about the old Gasser project and the Road Agents I thought it would be great to throw the word out about the jacket to see if it could end up in the hands of one of the original members of the club. I sell vintage clothes on eBay so I'll likely be putting it up to auction sometime in the next week or so. So keep an eye out. It's a really great piece of history and I love the story behind it. Here are a couple quick pictures of it.

the flea market where this was found is in Los Feliz , i wonder if one of the Road Agents sold it there. does anyone know if one of the Garey high students lives in that area?

Dang! when is this thread going to be made into a movie? You can't write stories this good! My condolences to the Royce family and thanks to 5w32 for dedicating his time and money to such a worthy project.

The story just continues to grow. Congratulations on acquiring the jacket, hope you got it for a reasonable price.

Given anymore thought to some type of a perpetual recognition of Royce and his accomplishments?

Every time I read this forum it's hard not to cry. My dad was so honored by everyone involved with this project. He always had a passion for cars, teaching and sharing his knowledge with others. He was a big kid at heart. I'm sure he will always be looking down on Steve with pride, gratitude and an ear to ear grin.

thanks to Luke Balogh, heres the 437 stroker motor refreshed . i bought this engine from the USA east coast and had it shipped out, it was built for and raced in a mud racer.
it was originally built by Joe Mondello in 1982:
    455 Engine bored .060 & destroked to 437 CI
    Studded & o-ringed. 425 Steel crank
    Mondello kit
Childs & Albert aluminum rods with 12:1 Ross pistons
Engle roller 704/712 lift with 318/328 duration
    Mondello polished and ported heads.
    harland sharp roller rockers
    aluminum water pump
    vertex magneto

the engine is ready for the dyno...just waiting for our time slot...stay tuned for the results
