That sir ... is a sad sight.

  10. compared to this sad sight i might could understand the odd 55 chevy sitting in the backyard for 40 years that "im gonna restore it someday" but leaving a machine like this to rot is just alittle beyond me at one time there was some large dollars sitting there

Looks like it is inside a trailer, and the roof is missing. Sad sight. Bob

Looks like USA 1 to me too.
Has white trim with small scallops along the sides.
Small block Chevy running Vette covers with spacers.
There is SOMETHING written on the windshield right in front...but I can't make it out.
Interesting that it sits in a trailer with full sides...but sadly...no roof!

Ok, I revised what I was posting because I have looked at it more closely and blew the picture up 300%. It does look like USA 1, and the name on the very top of the cowl in script looks like BOB, or at least it starts with a B.

The injectors are green on top from mold and lots of rust around the seam between the injector top and bottom sections. It is sitting in a lawn sevice type trailer with plywood sides and a steel mesh tailgate.

    Very sad. :(

I blew up the photo. It does say USA 1. There does appear to be a name in quotation marks on the 'windshield' area. The name is in cursive and looks to start with B and is 3-5 letters long. Most likely the drivers name. Blowing up the photo loses so much contrast I can't make it out. Under that on the left top of the cowl I can see a checkered flag. The engine blocks what might me on the right upper cowl. I'd assume it's a matching flag. Blue pleated seat upholstery and an aluminum or chrome butterfly steering wheel.

I'm seeing what you are describing too. In addition to the USA 1 lettering, within those letters are some white letters at the bottom. I see 4 letters, and they look like U _ H A, as in, United Something Hotrod Association. Is there some racing association like that ?

And the more I look at the script name on the cowl it does look like Bob with quotation marks after it.

I hope the HAMB can come through with an ID on this one. The most logical explanation for such a shocking sight would be that it's a stolen car.

    Ouch! Painful to see.
Another possible scenario, the owner passed away and the family parked the car and can't let it go?

I could be wrong but I am not sure that car is truly open to the elements. It looks like the floor in the trailer is missing some planks but the other exposed wood does not look so bad. The vine has grown up through the floor wrapping itself around parts of the car however I would expect that for something sitting this "open" would show a lot more "rot" on the painted surfaces and especially the interior which looks pretty good.

Is is possible that the trailer has come type of clear covering on it and it is somewhat protecting the car? I hope someone can actually purchase this racer, I bet it was a pretty car in its day and could be again.

I am pretty sure someone posted that pic not too long ago on here. I think there was some more iformation with it concerning its history and whereabouts.

    Really!?!? Missed it completely!

I'm thinking that someone up on FED's could ID the chassis builder or chassis type and maybe we could narrow it down that way.
There weren't thousands of these chassis styles built each year so it might be possible.
There are a lot of era specific hints available from that pic!
