I suppose I'll pull the motor and transmission first.I'll probably end up dropping a 350 in there at least for the time being. I'm sorting through all the extra parts tonight. I can't figure out the running boards . I guess they came off a flat bed truck??

Sounds like a plan, lots of people doing that, I have put a couple of them on newer small truck frames,, im me for details about that. Good luck with your new project, if you have any questions let me know, 3/4 tons are a bit different than 1/2 tons, but mostly the same. here is a shot of one I built and sold already, its the same truck as my avatar photo.

No no it's legit. It is the same truck. Bought it a few weeks ago to build and 2 days later my roof started leaking like hell so I gotta sell it before we get snow.

Howdy Folks & Happy New Year! --- I'm on the hunt for a ring & pinion set from any 1.5 Ton Chevy dually from 1941 to 1952. I need the original factory stock 5.43 gearing, so if anyone has updated their rear end and has the old gears around, I will pay top dollar. Feel free to email to [email protected].

    Keep on Truckin'

New member here, found the site on accident but glad I did

Here is my dad's 1942 Chevy truck. He bought it in 2008 and it was covered in Caterpillar yellow. It is running a 355 backed by a TH400 which spins a 3.73 geared 8.5" rearend out of a 2nd gen Camaro. The front subframe is also out of the same Camaro. The fuel tank has been relocated behind the rearend and it's out of a '57 Chevy. All steel except for the running boards. It is now painted in Hot Rod Black(satin). We just got the shortblock back from the machine shop and I torqued the heads down today, shot a couple coats of low gloss on it and sat the valvecovers on for a photo. I'm in the process of rewiring the engine bay now

Not long after he bought it

Yeah I put the pictures up then went looking for the Intro section. I've been a member of LS1TECH.com since 2005 and this board is setup the same way, so it should be a breeze

Here's a few OLD pics of my '46. Changed out the wheels, tires and hubcaps in the last shot. I've had this truck for about 33 years.

I actually joined back in 2008...I guess I didn't do an introduction, shame on me! Those pictures were taken probably in 1980. It is now parked in a shed 100 miles south of where I live now. I really need to get it up here. Hasn't been on the road for MANY years. :(

I took a break from Tech for about a year but I need to get back on. I've been getting build date/ASC numbers for the guys that own 98-02 WS6 Trans Am's. I probably have 100+ research and give out right now

    Hey

I just found this truck on a Danish site, like craiglist.
Badly rusted chevy, no title or papers on i. Almost made a deal, but have to go and have a look.

And i have a few questions.
Will a front end from a 1954 GMC 3/4 tons fit?
Will this rearend fit, seller says it's a 47-54 rear end of a truck.

I'm not sure what truck it is, but my best bed would be 1946 1.5tons 134.5 inch wheel base. 4103 cab and frame.
The motor and box is seized up and the rear end is stuck i the break.

To be honest, that looks beyond saving. way too much metal to replace.
Unless you absolutely have to have it,,
my advise would be to Wait for a better prospect.

Yes, it's bad. But remember that US cars are expensive over here, and not as avalible!!

This is the only 46 I've seen for 5years. There max 5 non-museum trucks avalible, and most of them are restored and out of my price range.

In short, I need a frame, a Frame no./ID tag, and I need it to be a truck to use a hole in Danish law about tax.

So I will be looking for a body to swap on there, if I can't find enough pieces for it.

I know it's a junk yard dog, and that body aint ever gonna cut it as a rough truck!
I might put something avalible (aka non US) on, hence most truck over here had a cab/body put on by the local coachbuilder, most of them came as cowl truck, so that might be my plan.

Will that rearend be plug'n'play? Does they have a flange or a yoke connection for the prop shaft?

volvobrynk, Those rear ends have yokes, if you can find a corporate 14bolt Gm, or a Dana 60, it should be, as you say, plug-n-play, might have to fool with mounting flanges a bit, depends on frame width, I would replace the transmission also, those old trans are non-syncro, hence the name 'crash box', So are you thinking about a later 40's or 50's body to put on it?
