Thanks for the kind words. Here is the last update for the year. patched up the roof rust, and cut apart a model A windshield frame and reworked it to fit the pontiac. I love hinged windshields... so my car's getting one.

You can see how my posts worked out too. I'm pretty happy with them.

  8. Just one word......wow! :D

  9. For me, this is one of the best threads I check back and back on. 30's Mopars can indeed be just as cool if not more so than the oversubscribed fords ;)

Any Poncho eng. would be great in there. I would go with a late 60's to early 70's 400 with the 400 4bl heads. They can still be had pretty cheap, except for the Ram Air stuff, and with a overbore, new pistons, etc. will still fall in good compression for pump gas, 9-9.5 to 1. Good luck on the build!

Just caught wind of this build.

Inspiring project and fine skills, toreadorxlt.

A Pontiac-powered Pontiac is the icing on the cake in and of itself.

If you are looking for the cherry on the icing, I would suggest a 389, and a '64 specifically. The '64 block has a provision for a modern, commonly-available (roadside repair friendly) block-mounted starter (think typical GM part), and the '64 heads / intake will have the early external appearance. To further the look, you could run a '62/early '63 timing cover (small water pump housing). Plus if you plan run a generator ('62 was the last year, BTW), the OEM brackets will need the '64-back heads / intake.

Here is a trusted source for a donor engine from a Catalina for example: http://www.indianapontiacs.com/ ...Steve is in the Indy area. He is heavy on '64s.

Free advice (BT,DT), but if you go with a later Pontiac engine, you will save yourself a LOT of goofing around if you buy a plant with ALL of the pulleys, brackets and accessories intact. PMD started getting "creative" as the '60s drew to a close.

    Good luck with the build!

I too, would love to see Pontiac power in it, but I understand the budget thing as well. Even without Pontiac power, I'm still drooling all over this one...Keep up the good work!
